We finally join the DVC family today, we're closing on 250 points in VWL. I know it's only been about five weeks since we made the decision to join, but it seems like five years we've been waiting for our closing date to arrive! 
My parents first brought me to WDW in 1971, and I've been smitten ever since then. I think I managed to pass this on to my DW - we stayed at Port Orleans for our honeymoon in 1995, and then in the Grand Floridian celebrating our 6th last month. I hear many people say that they wished that they had joined DVC sooner, but despite my affection for WDW, I must admit that I had never heard of the DVC until we were on site last month! My only regret is that we weren't able to get in on it in time to enjoy any of the free park passes in the '90s.
When we came last month, it was only DW and myself - my parents came down to NC to watch our 1 year old. Originally I think I had fallen for the popular rationalization that it's not worth bringing kids until they're 3, or 5 - but after reading this board for the past five weeks, I feel really good about bringing DS down within the next 6 or 8 months.
I must say, I really enjoyed staying in the GF - it was *extremely* beautiful, wonderful grounds, great to have monorail access, but the rooms - considering how much they cost - were just, well... hotel rooms. When we finally took the plunge and went on the DVC tour on the last day we were there, and we toured the villas, I knew right then that I had found what I was looking for in an on-site experience.
The three or four times my parents took me to WDW are some of my happiest, most vivid memories of my childhood, and now, thanks to DVC, I can give that gift, and those wonderful memories to my son on a *regular basis*!!! I'm still pinching myself that something as wonderful as DVC exists - it still feels like something of a dream...
I'll try to post some galleries of pics from our trip last month over the next few weeks - thus far haven't had time to edit them down and get them out on the web. Thanks to all of you for helping us to feel so welcome here, and so comfortable and excited with our decision to join! This board is fantastic (not to mention addictive...
