As part of his mission to keep our yard safe and critter-free, my dog caught another mole this morning. So I trudged thru the cold, wet grass in my flip-flops (yuk!) to fetch and dispose of the body (double yuk!). On our back gate that leads to the woods, there was a perfect spider web, wet with dew. The focus isn't as sharp as I'd like, but I finally got a decent shot of a web!

That's a good one, Amy! :goodvibes

We had some wild turkeys next door this morning but I was still in my pj's and figured they'd probably be back again tomorrow.

Well if anyone wants a spiders web there's a stubborn little fellow who builds a new web between my car door and wing mirror every night.

Every day it blows off or is wiped off by rain or even me knocking it off etc. And the next morning the web is always back.

Gotta admire the spider for perserverence, though i would have thought it would have learnt by now.

very nice - i have yet to get one. good job! :thumbsup2

Excellent work Amy!!

We've had a bunch of turkeys around us recently too. The other day there were 2. A mom and a baby walking down the street. Of course my camera was in the bedroom and by the time I got it and got back to the front door, they were long gone in the woods.

Oh well.

That's a really neat shot! And, I'm glad there's not a spider on it ;) - I was half afraid to look. Spiders are NOT my favorite things in the world!

Nice! The patterns of the fence and web contrast and yet they don't.
I also like the trapezoidal center of the web. Not unlike another view portal similar to the camera.

thanks for sharing.
except for the part that makes me want to go get a shot like that, I think I would have to get up early to catch the dew, hehehehe.

we have these weird spiders who make their webs in the grass and the only time you see the webs is in the morning when they are wet but i'm afraid to go near them since i don't see the spider. and figure it has to be big hairy and ugly....shudder

Is the web in a funnel? Tap it with a stick, the spider will run out. But be careful, funnel web spiders are poisonous.

Wow - this must be my lucky week! I went to the zoo this morning (I'll be posting those photos later) and saw this spider web near the tiger habitat. I couldn't get close enough to use macro and I wasn't sure the auto-focus would work right, but it turned out pretty good! I still like the dewy one better though.

no need to get up early, get a spray bottle with a good adjustable top, adjust it to a fine mist and spray the web.....
