Wonderworks? Anyone?

Taking DS and his GF to Orlando to celebrate his 18th birthday. GMom was going to buy him Blue Man Tickets but when she found out the price she reneged and asked me to look for something a bit cheaper. Has anyone been to Wonderworks? Would you recommend it for an 18 and 16 year old? I was thinking the Dinner Show/Lazer Tag package for $40 each might be good. We are staying at PBH at Universal Orlando, any ideas on transportation? I know this doesn't answer your question, (I've never been to Wonderworks) but the price for the Blue Man Group is TOTALLY WORTH IT!!!!!!!!!!!!

You will not be disappointed! We spent the big bucks for 2nd row seats, but since the theatre isn't that big, I think the less expensive tickets are equally as fantastic!

I vote for BMG! The show in thier home theatre of Orlando beats any of their traveling shows across the country because they have more permanent fixtures and more spectacular visual effects.

I visited Wonderworks a few years back. Think of Wonderworks as a combination of a science museum and a cheesy tourist attraction. You can spend a few hours at the attraction, but your son might beg you to bring him back to Universal.

As for transportation between Wonderworks and Portofino Bay Hotel, I would recommend a taxi.

Thank you both for your replies. If it were me buying the tickets, I would get BMG but it's not me, it his grandmother and she is on a fixed income. Maybe I'll look into Wet N Wild but being February....

We've been to Wet n Wild in Feb. We loved it it was the highlight of our vacation.

I have been to wonderworks and I too thought it to be "cheesy". Sure the upside down building looks cool, but it's not that great. I have never seen Blue man, but Cirque Du Soliel in Downtown Disney is AWESOME!! A little pricey but well worth it. The most breathtaking experience in Disney World in my opinion.

We went to the Wonderworks in Pigeon Forge, TN and it's just my opinion but for those ages, I don't think it would hold their interest for long. It's okay for elementary or middle-school aged kids but not high school aged. My kids enjoyed it but it's one of those things you do once and don't go back to.

Well, GMom called last night and had a change of heart -- she told me to go ahead and order BMG tickets online for DS, who turns 18 today He and his girlfriend are going to be so happy...

I really want to spoil him on this trip. Usually I'm quite budget minded but this is our first FL trip together in a few years. Between his sports schedule and his age, he hasn't wanted to go with DSis and me the last few years. I think this might be our one last trip together ~~ he's enlisting and will ship out after graduation in May

We're taking a limo from the airport and staying at Portofino Bay for five nights. I gave him his choice between Universal or WDW and he chose Universal so... We'll be eating at Mythos, Bubba Gumps, and Margaritaville but for the most part, he and DGF will have lots of time to themselves and he can prove he's the adult his chronological age just made him
