Sooo...what's the temperature going to be like?

Anyone taking formal wear: gown, tuxedo?

Our wish list:
Massages
Palo Brunch
Palo Dinner
Behind the Scenes (we do community theatre so it'll be interesting to get pointers)
Relaxation

Don't know what excursions there are...anyone have any "must do" excursion suggestions?

September in SoCal will be warm. But the Pacific tends to cold. Once in Mexico however it warms up. The Pacific is choppier than the Caribbean as well. I've felt ship movement far more on the West Coast than I ever did in the Caribbean. (Although we'll be sailing through the Caribbean during Hurricane season so all bets are off there.). I've sailed the Caribbean in late October frequently and it's pretty warm then so ill say that we'll have no problems whatsoever weather-wise.

As for tuxedos. I don't own one. West Coasters view long pants (even jeans) and a button up with a tie to be "Dressed up". But I usually keep black pants and a black Jacket for funerals. That's what I bring for formal nights. (I just leave the black funeral tie at home and add something jazzier so I don't feel to somber.). Which reminds me. I need to go shopping for a new suit. Mines pretty long on the tooth.

I usually avoid the spa as my wife spends enough money there and I don't need to add to it. But I may on this cruise. It's long and we'll not have kids to spend my money so why not. I'll do Palo Brunch as many times as they let me. It'll probably be my biggest expense. I'll probably take in a Palo Dinner or two as well. But I don't enjoy it as much as the brunch.

Thanks Steve for the weather report in SoCal for that time of year.

I don't own a Tux either. I did rent one on our first cruise...........I was looking good!!! But have always worn my suit the rest of the time. DW does snazz up a bit.

We may hit the spa on this cruise as well. We are going to have allot of sea days to take advantage of the spa, a time or two. We don't enjoy the Palo Dinner as well as the brunch either. The last Palo Brunch we did, one of our friends who we met here in the DIS Board, asked our waitor for one the chef's recipes. She went back and talked to the chef. He came out with a copy of his recipe and signed it for her. What a nice jesture. We got all kinds of pictures with him.

That is to cool. We love the Palo. Always try to do on brunch and one dinner on a 7 day cruise. We may have to double it since in is a 14 day cruise.

I wonder if they'll let us make two brunch reservations online or just one then another once onboard.

That's a good question Steve. I wonder too if they will let us do two brunches since it is a longer cruise. :confused3

The other week you mentioned Steve, you only had to work 4 - 12 hour days this week. Did that happen? Or did the schedule get changed on you? Hope you got a break in the hectic work load. :thumbsup2

Did everyone remember to spring AHEAD??!!!? I wish they would put it one way and then just leave it that way.

I ended up with more of a break than I intended. My step-dad got very ill and has been in the hospital all week (and will continue to be in the foreseeable future). Anyway since my brother was in the Caribbean on the Fantasy it fell on me to be there for my mom and help her through the worst of it. Now that he's back we've been tag teaming it and that's working out better. Especially since the next three weeks I have no choice in that there's no one that can replace me. My dad is doing better but he'll need open heart surgery so things are still touch and go.

So sorry to hear about your dad!

Some pixie dust headed your way for your dad and all your family!

Since it is a 14 night cruise, I do believe you can make two online.

Would anyone possibly be interested in doing a private brunch? I think the private room can accommodate up to 14 people and it would be a great way for us all to hang out for a short bit and get better acquainted.

Just a thought.

We've done this on a previous cruise and I have to say it was one of the most memorable experiences of that cruise. Palo brunch is great, but oh so much greater when shared!

We will be binging our formal wear. DH owns a tux and I a gown, and don't get much occasion to wear them in Kansas...lol....so we always avail ourselves of the opportunity to get fancy.

We will have our kids with us, but we never see them on cruises, they are too busy doing the kids stuff to want to hang with us much. We generally have to "force" them to join us at dinner as that's the only chance we get to visit with them...haha. However, since their gma and gpa are joining us for the first time on a cruise, that might change.

Haven't checked out excursions yet online, but plan to once summer is over. Might check into some private tours, just not sure yet what we'll do.

This has been a very fun group and really look forward to meeting you all!

Sorry to hear about your step-dad Steve. Our thoughts and prayers are with him and your family that the surgery goes well. Here's some pixie dust for you and your family. pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:

Guess it's time for another signup form - LOL! I think I'll need your stateroom numbers, how many guests, and full names, but let me check to make sure then I'll post to the thread...............

Anyone else want to be in charge of calling DCL about this when it comes time to make the reservation? I don't mind setting up the form on Google at all - makes it easy to collect info.

I do know that if you do a private brunch, it "counts" as one of your Palo reservations, just so you are all aware..........

Hello everyone! My family just got off our very first cruise ever yesterday. We loved being on the Magic so much that we knew by our second day that we had to book another cruise. I'm happy we have another cruise to look forward to but hate that it's so far away.

:welcome::welcome::welcome: to our chatty little group ......glad to have you!

Disney cruises are in fact, very addicting. Where did you just get back from? We have never done another cruise line but have talked to many who say that Disney does it best.

Sure we'll hear more from you..and again, WELCOME!

Welcome!!! I agree, I love the Magic. Unfortunately I haven't been able to cruise the Magic since 2009. But the Wonder is just as fun!
