Wondering what Disney has in mind...

After hearing the news story about disney is going to start incorporating marvel superheroes in their parks out west, i was wondering what they had in mind.

Hollywood studios is really the only place they could go. i cant see some of the b-list heros walking down main street in the magic kingdom

The day I see a Marvel character in MK is the day I am done with WDW. I can't stand seeing them in the Disney Stores now. And just on a side note, our Disney Store closed a couple months ago and during the clearance/going out of business sale on the last two days the shelves and displays were mostly empty...except for the Marvel section, even at 80% off, that section was barely touched. I'm can't say what that means, if anything, for the future of the intergration of Disney and Marvel, but at the time I thought Disney fans just aren't buying into the Marvel thing.

I'm with you. It drives me bananas seeing Marvel merchandise in the parks. I also agree that the ONLY place for Marvel to have a presence would be Hollywood Studios. Lord knows there are enough Marvel movies that would lend itself to theme park attractions ala Universal but it needs to stay in the MOVIE related theme park.

I'm sure you all know this, but regarding specifically Hollywood Studios, they can't go there. Universal has an exclusivity east of the Mississippi.

This may not be a popular view but…

I’m going to stir the pot a little (in a friendly, non-confrontational way). First, the Marvel characters aren’t my thing. I am a Disney purist and would prefer that my core characters rule the World. My local Six Flags has the Batman, Looney Tunes stuff (a/k/a crap). And since I have always thought Disney was far superior to those other types of theme parks (Six Flags, etc.), I have thought that their characters were also less-than. I have always lumped the super hero characters in with the (in my opinion) inferior Looney Tunes characters. I am afraid that seeing the Marvel characters (or even merchandise) in a Disney park, Disney will drop down a peg in my mind. And I’m sad about that. Yes, that makes me a bit elitist which is awful – but I am just being honest here.

However, I will give Universal credit for their efforts of late. Still, I MUCH prefer Disney but can acknowledge the effort and funds they have put into their park in the last 10 years to try to compete with the Mouse. And I love healthy competition.

That's because DC characters ARE less-than Marvel characters (with the exception of Batman, he'll beat up anyone).
