We are due to leave MCO on Thursday at 1:50 to return to PHL. I'm wondering what kind of mess this stinking storm is going to make with flights and how long it will take for things to get caught up. Does anyone know if we could end up getting bumped on Thursday to accommodate people who had flights canceled due to the storm?

You shouldn't get bumped. They should get squeezed into available seats once flights return to normal.

You will be fine, the storm is going to hit NY instead and Philadelphia area will be spared.

Is there a head in the sand smilie?

Have fun on trip and hope there's no problems.

How can you say this? A huge storm hitting NYC will definitely have an effect on Philly!

The storm center is currently predicted to pass just west of Philadelphia Tuesday, with the National Weather Service calling for more than 20 hours of continuous 35-40 mph winds in the area. This will definitely affect flights to PHL early in the week. Whether or not this will affect flights next Thursday is unknown.

I think you missed the 'head in the sand smilie :)"

Seems like most of the wind/rain etc is Monday-Wednesday.

Eastern PA is supposed to get a good dose of hurt with the storm, BUT I'd be more inclined to see what the airlines are doing. (If offering change fees, or recommending changes etc.) Delta and USAirways have udpates on their site, Airtran I guess is still waiting!

We fly out of PIT to MCO in the evening of Thursday, Nov 1 and I'm not changing anything unless I need to. Airports seem to be one of those things they try to get up and going ASAP after a major storm, just to get stranded people out of the airport.

If they have a little sprinkle or winds in Philadelphia it throws off air traffic. One time I was flying MSP-PHL-PIT, leaving around noon. We sat in the airport in Minneapolis for hours because we could not get clearance to leave because it was windy at PHL and they were increasing the spacing between landings. When I finally got there, the airport was a total zoo, my connection had been cancelled. They told me to go to customer service, I did and the line was 50 people long. Finally I found a quiet spot to call reservations to find out if they rescheduled me on one of the 3 flights to PIT still on the board. They did and I was able to get out and land at PIT around midnight. Of course, my luggage did not make it. It was delivered to my house the next day.
