Wondering about people's DP Use (or not) and Le Cellier at 2 Credits...

Will You Still Go to Le Cellier After It Becomes a 2 TS Credit Dinner?

  • Yes, I will use 2 DP credits for dinner there.

  • Yes, but only for lunch when it is 1 credit.

  • Yes, I will just pay OOP.

  • Yes, I don't use the DP so I will pay OOP anyway.

  • No, I use the DP and don't think Le Cellier is worth 2 credits.

  • I don't get the hype and don't dine at Le Cellier so it makes no difference to me.

I was just pondering if Le Cellier might be easier to book an ADR for after it becomes a 2 TS dinner. What does everyone else think? Vote so we can all see what the DISer's will do!

While we liked Le Cellier, I can't see that it's worth 2 table service credits. I honestly liked Kona Cafe better all the way around. That said, I will be booking a lunch there in May.

I don't get the hype about LC. IMO, it's a tiny notch above an Outback Steakhouse type place which I think are pretty bad to begin with. My best guess is that it will only be 2 TS credits for a short period of time. The price will probably go up, the ADR's will likely go down. When the ADR's go down so will the hype. Once there is no longer hype about LC and the profit drops, it will return to being a 1 TS restaurant full time. That's just how I figure it.:confused3

With that being said, I wouldn't use 2 TS credits on any meal, unless it was on the DxDP. Other than that, to me, there is no value using 2 TS credits on 1 meal.

We have dined at LC three times on the DDP. Although I have always enjoyed it It's not worth 2. If I were going to spend 2 DPC's I would go to Yachtsman. Now that was worth it.

Well--it won't be worth 2 credits as it is now!!
There will have to be a seriious upgrade in food quality such that it will attract those who already like Yachtsman or Shula's. And they will probably will need to redesign the place and make it a bit less crowded.

So will a THIRD "upscale" steakhouse do well? Time will tell...

As for me--I like Shula's, so why even go to LeCellier???

We have been dining at Le Cellier for years and always enjoyed our meals. I have never had a bad steak there yet. I had a New York strip there last week that was fantastic. It was cooked just how I wanted it and very tender. Would I give up 2 DP points to eat there- no way. Unless it's a restaurant of the calliber of California Grill using 2 DP for one meal is just not worth it.

It's not worth the 1 credit now, so If I ever use the dp again no way would I give it 2 credits.

Thanks for voting!

From the poll numbers, I would infer that lunch will be hard to get in to and maybe dinner might not be such a hot ticket anymore! I hope this is what happens because I use TIW. I like Le Cellier, but not for the steak - as a pp said, it's along Outback kind of quality. I don't bother trying to go there because it's not so good I will deal with the hassle of getting the ADR and then still waiting an hour to get seated. But I would like to be able to enjoy some pretzel bread and cheese soup from time to time. Maybe now I can?:confused3

Some people say they don't get the hype. I don't get those people. I wonder, seriously, if they've all received 'one off' bad steaks or bad service or something. To me, the only thing Outback and Le Cellier have in common is that they are both steakhouses.
Do bear in mind when they go Signature they will be significantly revamping their menu. They will be allowed to source their own suppliers, which is something they're itching to do. Being able to use Canadian beef in the Canadian pavilion would be a great start. (They don't now--it's New Zealand beef, I was told.)

Two TS credits is steep, though. I'd want to pay OOP.

For what they currently serve I voted don't get the hype. We have eaten there numerous times and we keep giving it one more chance mainly because my kids LOVE the moose and smores desserts. The quality of the steaks the last 3 or 4 years has just not been up to par. Half the NY strip goes to waste with tons of fat and gristle I never get at any other (even much less costly steakhouse). We also end up spending 2-2.5 hours on this meal because they are always late to seat and slow to serve and we go during value season and eat early. I also don't enjoy how close the tables are. If these are all fixed I would gladly spend 2 credits for dinner but I'm afraid it will end up like CRT same food at twice the cost just because it's popular enough that people will pay.

I voted for the lunch option. We ate there once for lunch, and it was one of the best meals of the trip, but I wouldn't use 2 credits for it. The only place we regularly use 2 credits for is HDDR--our family loves the show and has such a great time there, it's worth it to us.:goodvibes

I have always considered LeCellier a excellent use of 1TS. I think 2TS they are really going to have to up their game. The quality of the menu does not compare to other current 2TS restaurants. The tables in the restaurant are very close together. I did read, I think on the Disney website that they will also roll out a new menu, when the change takes place from 1TS to 2TS begins.

No way, no how is Le Cellier a good quality steak. So a NY strip at Le Cellier is about $35 bucks. At outback the same steak is about 17 bucks and it's the same quality. So what we mean is that if you're going to charge 2X the price, the least you can do is have it taste a lot better.

I live in a major city, the Mortons steakhouse chain which is recognized as a premier steakhouse, a couple can get a steak/seafood combo for $109. for both. Now yes I recognize that whenever you go on vacation you expect a markup inprices. I have no problem what so ever with that. I travel a lot. What I do have a problem with is paying twice the price for fast food quality.

So that's why we compare it to Outback. the steaks are no better and like I always say, any time you go to a steak house and the thing that every one raves about is not the steak but the soup, well to me that's over hype.

I've never had a bad meal there, but I've never ever walked out of there (3X) saying "wow, that was a great steak"

For my family , no place is worth 2 ts credits-we just aren't that specilized I guess. We don't ever spend a full day at EP so lunch would just be too difficult
