My daugther and I returned late last night from our 10-day stay in Orlando. We began our vacation with a 2-night, 3-day stay at RPR before heading over to WDW.

We had a wonderful time: we stayed club level (fan club rate $209) and our room reservation had been upgraded to an executive king suite (I had not requested this; so it was a nice suprise). The king suites are lovely. Separate bedroom from the large sitting room--there is a pull-out couch in the sitting room. We were in room 7301. The windows overlooked landscaping and part of I-4. I adored the spaciousness of the room and the fact that we had two televisions.

We had no trouble during our very early check-in; the staff person checking us in knew about the Grade A program, and my daughter was also given the backpack with water cup and snacks. Actually, we opted to pick up the backpack later because we were anxious to get to the parks (our room was not ready); unfortunately, they ran out, but my daughter was given the backpack yesterday when we returned to drop off the rental car (I used Marriott points for a voucher for an 8-day rental from Hertz and the program did not allow for drop-off at the airport).

We had excellent housekeeping and the concierge staff was terrific. And of course, FOTL cannot be beat. I can't wait until our next visit to RPR and Universal Orlando.

If there are any questions, I'll be happy to try to answer.

I am glad you had a great experience there. We will be going 9/12. Do they still have that great mango cream cheese?

Yes, they still had the mango cream cheese with the continental breakfast offerings; as well as that wonderful guacamole with the evening appetizers.

For some reason I thought the club level at the RPR was on a lower floor...? I know it is on the 7th floor at the HardRock...

Thanx for the report... what did you think of Shrek 4D?

Oops! I inverted the numbers. The room was 3701.

As for Shrek 4D, I enjoyed it, and thought it was an excellent way to spark interest for seeing Shrek 2. We saw it Saturday morning (around 9:00 am), and there were only two other people ahead of us in the Express line. The standby line was LONG. I thought the preshow segment too long--my reaction was, 'allright already, I get the jokes.' The show itself was a lot of fun.

We also liked the Jimmy Neutron ride. My daughter liked it so much, she went on it three times in row--there was no line for this at 8:00 in the morning! We did this before seeing Shrek.

Thanks for your post. Could you please describe in more detail the food offerings? We're trying to decide between the $110 Ent. rate for a standard room or $195 for club (Fan Club rate).

Thanks!

Continental breakfast items consisted of:

lots of wonderful fresh fruit (various melons, pineapple), assorted pastries, muffins, bagels, variety of bread for toasting, jams/jellies, cream cheese (plain and mango), individual serving boxes of cold cereal; beverages (coffee, tea, juices, bottled water).

Bottled water and coffee are available throughout the day, and I believe fresh fruit (apples/oranges) and snacks, such as chips, were set out in the afternoon.

Evening appetizers included crudites and dip, assorted cheeses and crackers, guacamole, tortilla chips and I guess what could be called a featured appetizer, such as marinated vegetables. One evening the 'feature' was chicken strips and fries, which were consumed rather quickly, and some type of pasta dish was brought out. Complimentary wine and beer, as well as soda, tea and coffee are available. Mixed drinks are also available for a charge--I believe the cost was $5.

The evening dessert was assorted cookies and sweets such as petit fours. Cordials were also served. I think there may have been a charge for the liquers--$5.

Do you know if you still get the Lowes first upgrade if you book with the fan club rate? I know you don't get the upgrade if you book the entertainment rate but I'm not sure about the fan club rate. We will be staying on site for the first time in Dec. We are Plat Lowes and tring to figure out the best way to book and keep the upgrade. Thanks.

Hi Muffy,

I'm also Loews Platinum and was told that only Loews published rates qualify for upgrades (meaning upgrades at time of reservation). AAA rates qualify; Fan Club and Entertainment rates don't.

However, it seems that upgrades at check-in are still hit or miss, depending on who is checking you in once you get to the resort. Some people have received upgrades, others have been told no upgrades due to the fact that they booked using Entertainment or Fan Club rates.

Once again it depends on who you speak to. I booked with Fan Club for 2 trips since the new Loews policy was implemented and was assured upgrages (if available) were accepted using AAA and the Fan Club card but not the Entertainment card. One trip has transpired and we did get a suite upgrade using the Fan Club card and the next trip is not until December. It certainly always seems to be dependant on person checking you in. I even placed a call to Loews First 800# and was told we can get amenities and upgrades with the Fan Club card. Maybe staying off season plays a part as well. One thing is for sure you can get a different answer to the same question consistently!
