Wonderful Panama Canal Sept 2014

Oh my goodness! I missed 4 days and have to play catch up. We are a chatty bunch.

:welcome::welcome:We are daughter and mother but we're both adults, though I refuse to grow up!

Mother and I will be dolled up pirate: style. Like I posted on FB, Captain Hook may never be the same after meeting my mother! Our hats came that we ordered to go with our costumes. I can hardly wait until September! :tigger:

I had to have my wellness physical for the upcoming health insurance enrollment so asked my doc for a couple of valiums to take for the flights and scopolamine patch's. I don't usually have an issue with seasickness but I've never sailed in the Pacific ocean and I want to make sure that I'm covered.

This weekend has been a blast! Took my daughter to see Bianca del Rio last night at a local club and had an amazing time meeting her. She is even more gorgeous in person than she appeared to be on Drag Race, and prior to that I spend 4 1/2 hours at a fantasy football draft. I'm hoping to have a good season this year. Does anybody else play? My man friend will be in charge of my players the 2 weeks I'm having the time of my life with all you people! :cheer2::cheer2:

I play Fantasy Football, it is a league from my old job. I was the first "girl" they let on the team and I won my first year out. :happytv: Last year I was 8th out of 12, so I am hoping to make a better showing this year. We hold our draft on the 23rd. I LOVE football, especially the Seahawks !!! :yay::yay::yay:

Cracker Jacks only has paper items (booklets, etc) anymore. They just don't want kids having fun anymore. Some kids probably choked on something so it had to change for all : (
I still buy them for me and I miss a real surprise.

Haven't had a box of Cracker Jacks in years. Like you said some lawyer saw the liability it the toys so they got rid of them. It's amazing that we ever survived our childhood with all the dangers that were around.

And Kinder Egg surprises are in a large yellowy/orange plastic egg…I don't understand how that was a danger. so sad about Cracker Jacks.

How DID we survive our childhood?

I thought your train arrived earlier in SD; glad I was wrong. Try to find us. I hope we end up on top level, ocean side and we'll keep our eyes open for you. Which station do you board on again?

We get on at irvine in Orange County

Not sure we did survive, i may still be in mine. :) LOL. I also loved cracker jacks and fell in love with Kinder eggs. So sad that they take away those small pleasures.

We just got an email from WDW to customize our magic bands for our post cruise visit. This will be our first time to WDW using magic bands. Has anybody used them and did you like them.

I have used them but I didn't find them comfortable to wear. It didn't fit my wrist properly and I usually would end up taking it off.

It worked okay for the business part of it. Didn't have any trouble with that at all.

We've have used on a few trips and I think we got them last October. I put it on the strap on my little shoulder bag. I typically don't like things on my wrist, usually . They work fine.
Only problem I see- for AP holders- is that we still need to carry other ID, our AP discount card and Tables in Wonderland card. I would prefer the old type card since I'm having to carry a card holder anyway.
(IMHO: it was a waste of a billion dollars when the cards did the same thing and, being a stockholder, I'm a bit disappointed; however, it is corporate tracking of your every move at it's finest! )

It was my understanding that you can get the card instead of the band if you wished to do so?

The band did not bother me too much as I do wear a watch. However, I can't wear bracelets with it or I have to take my watch off. I feel nekked without my watch! :lmao:

We are also doing WDW post cruise and have customized them. This will be out 2nd time using them. I called today and talked to WDW and they told me to have them shipped to the resort and not to your house. The lady to me this way you know they will be waiting for you. Not sure if this helps you or not. :confused3

This won't be a "normal" DCL cruise. This is a special cruise because it's longer, because of the itinerary and PC transit, and because it happens shortly after school begins. As a result, many (possibly most) of the cruisers will be repeat DCL cruisers, and many of us are DCL fanatics. Rest assured there will be lots of people dressing up for Pirate Night. In fact, a couple of days before, Sept. 19th, is International Talk Like A Pirate day (AAARRRGGGHHHH!). If you don't believe me, google it. As well, there will also be a Prince and Princess evening, and there's a lot of discussion in the fb group about bringing crowns and tiaras for the event. So, if ye bring your pirate garb, have no fear, matey: ye certainly won't be alone! TAKE WHAT YE CAN! aaarrrrggghhhh… pirate:
What exactly happens on the prince and princess evening? I did some research on the google but I couldn't find anything beyond a themed menu.

Nothing is scheduled by DCL, but we're trying to change that. :thumbsup2

We figure we can create a special event if enough of us show up in royal garb. My DW and I found a couple of crowns that look pretty good at a costume shop, and are trying to figure out what else we can cobble together from bits we're already bringing to look "royal".

We might even try to get people to do a "swan-by" (as opposed to a "drive by") from deck 4 down the stairs to deck 3 in the Atrium before the dinner seatings.

I've also suggested to DCL that they have a dance or some sort of parade / review in the Atrium that evening.

Who knows? Maybe we can start another tradition! :upsidedow

That sounds like fun! Hubby suggested that we wear our kilts that night. Only problem is his kilt is made of ten yards of thick wool. I'm not sure how well that will travel......

I drafted Percy Harvin this year. I sure hope he stays healthy!!

Not sure about royal garb but our tiaras are ready to travel :woohoo:

I bought a mumu. My mother said I look like if my grandmother and Barney had a 90 year old love child.

Yes, we hope Percy stays healthy too, got a little scare the other day at practice but it seems like he is okay.

I have a tiara that I just bought at Charming Charlie's and my husband is going to wear his military dress blues, which I think look very royal!! Not sure what dress I am going to wear, unless I find a new one to buy. We shall see.

I don't have 'royal garb' per se, but my tiara is polished and waiting! princess:
DH says he will just be my consort .... :rotfl:

We'll all find out, as I'm bringing my kilt as well! Not sure I'll wear it on Prince & Princes night, but it's a thought… :goodvibes
