Wonderful Panama Canal Sept 2014

Hi all!
Has anyone purchased tickets yet for MNSSHP? I was thinking of buying tickets for 9/26, but now I'm thinking that we should visit Kennedy Space Center on 9/26 and then MNSSHP on 9/28. We are staying in the Orlando area (have not yet booked a hotel) for the 3 nights post-cruise and flying home in the evening on 9/29. Thoughts? We have a 4y/o DS and 3y/o DD.
Thanks!
Cheryl

I've seen postings that several of us have purchased tickets

I have been losing weight ( keeps re- finding me over the years) and have been faithful with exercising everyday. My goal for this trip is to not gain weight! Anyone else going to be exercising and eating healthy on this trip? Or am I the sole nutcase? :rotfl2:

Physically I have to eat fairly healthy. And I plan to walk the ship multiple times. I have a weird/lack of sleeping schedule, so I'm often up at weird times, figure I'll walk laps around the ship and gym it up when that happens. And a couple of us may do yoga on board.

I think I will be sticking to my exercise routine, as we are running Wine & Dine, but I have a hard time saying "no" to Mickey Bars:worship:

I am. Fully plan on having my clothes got the entire trip. If you want a gym buddy, let me know. We can motivate each other to get up and go, if not every day, at least most days! I will probably try to stick with a pretty low carb diet as well. The weight keeps find me as well and I'm diligently working to get down at least one more size before Sept. so that I don't need an entirely new travel wardrobe!

My last post should have said " fit " not "got."

I just talked to my TA…DCL will not confirm or deny a group's booking on board any of their ships anytime. That said, she came up with some very telling points…
1) DCL does not do group cruise pricing any longer…rack rates would be extremely high for such a large group and their chaperones. (according to my TA they stopped group bookings about 18 months ago)
2) two weeks from the BEGINNING of school, then Competition on top? Don't see ANY school allowing that long out.
3) Dance/band comps are usually a little later in the year.
4) (and the biggie) If a school band/dance troupe were going to do such a cruise just before a competition and they needed rehearsal space, wouldn't that be something they would have investigated BEFORE booking said cruise? I was in band and dance in high school…yeah, not seeing our directors ever doing something like that before a comp.

JUDGEMENT…TROLL (imho)

I agree!! My I was in band/choir so where my older brothers and this would NEVER happen.

Is this my 10th post :-)? No, we are sadly going to miss it! We did the Halloween cruise last year (awesome!!). And we are coming back in November to run the Wine & Dine Half, (our son, age 4, is running the mile) so we will be doing the Mickey Christmas Party.

We love Disney, wish it weren't so far away. Will be even further (farther?)when we move next year.
I'd looooove to do a runDisney event. Maybe the Star Wars half in January, but I need to decide soon. We live close to the DLR.

We also have 3 nights post cruise before we fly home (back to the UK).
We already have our MNSSHP Tix for Fri 26th and then have a night booked at HRH on Sat so we can have early admission and FOL for 2 days at IoA and US. Monday we have breakfast at Chef Mickey's pretty early then will do a bit of last minute shopping, and maybe look around some of the resort hotels before heading to the airport :( we don't have kids tho' so maybe no help at all!!!
That sounds so fun! We will probably wait a couple years before we go to those parks.

:thumbsup2

We purchased 2 tickets for 9/28 MNSSHP as we are staying 6 nights at WDW French Quarter starting when we dock at PC.
I WISH we could stay 6 more nights! Not enough vacation time over here. But we can always plan another trip!

I just got off the Wonder about 2 weeks ago. They have changed from paying by the minute to by the MB. I like this plan better. The top plan was for 1000 MB (not sure why they didn't call it 1 gig) it was $89.00. In 5 days of checking my e-mail 3 times a day for work I used less then 200 MB. I get about 200 emails a day. I figure that 1000 will be more than enough for 14 days. Hope this helps.

Thanks for that info. My son is coming on the cruise and has to check in with his teachers for school work.

Dear Fellow Cruisers: Please don't wish away the summer! I have a birthday in early fall and while I don't relish the alternative, I am truly NOT looking forward to this next milestone birthday; in fact, it makes me rather sad :*(
Thank you

Don't be sad Birthdays are a celebration of life party: Plus with Disney you never get old!

We just booked today and are ready to go.....no wait we still need to join in on all of the festivities on page 1. It will be me, my husband and my son (13). This is our 3rd cruise and the first one without our two oldest who couldn't get the time off of their college classes to join us.

My son is asking if there are any other kiddos his age that will be on this trip.

Can't wait for September!!! Wishing the summer will move along quickly, but trying to savor the time off from school/activities that keep us so busy.
Paula

My son will be 15.

Thanks Thnik that helps me out a lot.

Are we agreed that it was a troll?

I checked all the Disney, affiliated/ official/ others that I could find and did a search query for everything I could think of - music/band/ competition/ WDW/ ESON/ Wide World of Sports/ festival/ competition/ etc. and nothing comes us for Sept. except for F&W festival pro bands and a soccer thing at WWS. I am pretty sure there was nothing else , so I'm going with troll, posted on wrong board, or just a wishful dreamer. In any case, I'm not going to worry about it.
One thing about the cost though, if a group of kids were booked, four each in inside cabins, the cost would be pretty cheap- maybe $1500/ student if that much. I know for that rate, I'd have let my kids go AND volunteer to chaperone!

Just curious, with all the new people signed up, are most Disney employees?

Not us. We are just semi-old retired people from Canada :thumbsup2

We had looked at this cruise last year but decided that it was too close to our daughter's October wedding and decided against it at that time.

Nope. Not a disney employee, although my daughter does want to work as an ASL interpreter at disney.

Panama cruse has been on our bucket list forever. We homeschool so dates (mostly) don't matter to us. Price does. Couldn't beat the <$1000 for 14 days and disney. plus some On Board Credit.
