Wonderful Panama Canal Sept 2014

I know, David, that is what we had on our last EBPC. I hope they nail it down so we know what to pack! LOL! I remember because Dave wore his tux with a bow tie and cumberbund on one formal night and the vest and tie on the other.
I'm sort of wondering if there were too many complaints? :confused3
Some people do not like to dress up. That is why cruise casual has REALLY become casual!

I'm going to stick my neck out here, but I sometimes think "cruise casual" has become too "casual." Just my opinion folks. I know jeans are now acceptable almost every where and at any time, and lord knows I like wearing my jeans as much as the next guy. But I see nothing wrong in dressing nice at dinner on board the ship. Hope I didn't offend anyone out there in DIS Land.

I agree, David...we never go out where we get to dress up, so we like formal and semi-formal nights. We also dress nicely for cruise casual because we enjoy the experience of the dining rooms.

Princess night on the Fantasy was semi-formal night. But in my mind, because I bought something while I was sleep shopping online- darn it- I bought an adult tutu and wore it.

Ditto Stephanie. We too enjoy the experience of the dining rooms, and to, out of respect for your table mates, and also the waiters. (Ok I'm getting off my soap box now, regular programming will not resume.)

I hope i have nice enough clothes because we never dress up here

I think you'll be fine! We don't have what would traditionally be considered "formal" clothes, either. As formal as we get on cruises is black chiffon palazzo pants and a pretty top for me, and a jacket, tie, and dress pants for my husband. We haven't felt out of place, as there are many others who dress that way as well. I think my husband would refuse to go on the cruise if he had to wear a tux to get into the dining room.

Here's the link to the DCL dining dress code: https://disneycruise.disney.go.com/planning-center/my-cruise-plans/faqs/onboard-dining/dining-attire/

Clearly "formal" wear is not required, but people who have formal wear may choose to wear it, and that's great! As long as we're all neat, clean, and dressed to go to a nice party, there's no reason to feel out of place.

:thumbsup2 I agree! I just don't like to see torn jeans in the main dining room...we saw that a lot on one of our cruises. Made me sad. How hard is it to put on a pair of dockers and a clean polo shirt?

:wave2: I agree all the way around. Wear what you can afford, just be neat and collared shirt. Ladies wear something nice that's all. Don't get stressed about it.

David, I agree, we love to dress up for dinner. princess: It just makes it feels so much more special and different from our everyday lives. I am casual the rest of the time on the ship, most of the time in my swimsuit laying in the sun reading a good book. :beach: But getting all gussied up for dinner is fun.

You will be fine, like the others said. I hope I didn't frighten you about the dress code. Like Stephanie (Va-NanaTink) said we too have seen people wearing torn jeans in the restaurants. It is sad to see.

Donna and I don't go all out either Karen. On formal night I wear a nice suit and tie and Donna will wear a nice dress to dinner. On dress casual days I wear casual dress slacks and a nice shirt, Donna will wear slacks and a nice top. Nothing overly dressed at all.

We've seen similar attire on board the ship Stephanie. It was sad to see.

I agree, nothing for anyone to get stressed about. Look presentable.

To finish up, I hope I haven't upset anyone on here about my opinions on the dress code on board the ship. We all are going to be LOOK'N GOOD!!!:thumbsup2

Oh yes, the rest of the time on board the ship we too are in shorts and a t-shirt, or our swimming suits,(Mine has a tie with it...............No Not Really!!!) laying around the pool or in a deck chair reading my Kindle. But for dinner, the evening meal, we like to look presentable., nothing fancy mind you, but nice.

Yay - I think we're now all set - booked pre-cruise hotel the other night on points - yay! Since there are six of us two rooms can get $$ but this was a freebie!

Air flights have been booked for a bit too, and now all I need to do is concentrate on the Palo brunch (e-mail to be sent out shortly) and the FE list (keeping it up to date)

IF you think you are on the FE list and have NOT gotten an e-mail from me (well, actually from EBPCFEList@fament.com) then PLEASE send me an e-mail, PM me on FB or otherwise touch base with me (if you do it here via PM, please BE AWARE that I am NOT on the DIS much, and it will take me much longer to get back with you!)

September can't get here soon enough, but I know it's going to go by SOOO fast - hehehhe!

I'll be in the sun by the pool with my kindle!!

Don't stress anything nice..will do, don't go out and buy things you'll never use again.. The cruise is expensive enough.:duck:

Or you could buy something nice and then use that as an excuse to go cruising more often to your money's worth :rotfl:
