Wonderful Panama Canal Sept 2014

I'm just hoping it's not one of his "horror-type" movies....I don't like those kind of movies...I couldn't watch it even if Courtney's in it. :(

I just watched "Blast From the Past." He's silly and grandpa like.

Dude: you guys joke about cosplay and being in Marvel outfits. I love love love Disbounding.

Looking forward to meeting another Long Islander on our cruise!

when are you flying out to San Diego & from where? We leave from JFK on 09/10 direct flight on American Airlines. We used to go through Miller Place all the time on the way to the Port Jeff ferry to take our daughter back & forth to Sacred Heart University. :boat:

I had a lot of students that went to Sacred Heart and loved it. I hope your daughter did too.

My husband grew up in southern California so we're still deciding how far in advance to go out so we can catch up with friends. We always fly American and take Flt 3 at noon.

Going to see captain america today hope i will like it

I'm sure you will. Like Baysurf said it received excellent reviews. I saw the first Captain America movie and the Avengers movie they were good. Did you see either of these?

FYI. I just checked out the DCL website to see if pricing for our cruise has gone up. I noticed there are no staterooms with a verandah available. There are still staterooms in all other categories.

I've watched the price of our category, 5C, since we booked it, and the last listing I saw before it disappeared was $1800 more than what we paid. Now I'm looking at this cruise as a "bargain," lol. Everything's relative!

I liked or did not see the other 2 movies

Yeah David, if anyone is hoping for an upgrade to verandah, they're outta luck. But if your inside and think you may get a bump up to oceanview then you've got a good shot. Port upgrades might even be available. What I paid for my inside was very low. Even lower when you count in my Target discounts. I'm at under $100 pp/pd. If I nail an ocean view for that price I'll really be sitting pretty.

This is truly insane. Oh my gosh.

"Avengers" is one of my favorite movies of all time. I loved that. It's written/directed by one of my favorite movie/television/geek gods: Joss Whedon. I may have bit myself while watching that movie.

"Captain America: Winter Solider" is super good. At times you forget you're watching a Captain America movie because it's just a legit political thriller. And the action scenes are super awesome because the filmmakers did as much live action as they could and only used CGI when they had to. So like any time you see the Winter Solider/Bucky playing with a knife, all real. Sebastian Stan was on set just playing with the knife. He'd have full conversations while playing with a plastic knife so it became muscle memory. Also Sebastian Stan is signed up for 9 Marvel movies, so I found that interesting (only Sam Jackson is signed up for 9 as well. And Sam has done I think 4 or 5 of his 9. Sebastian has done 2.). We might be getting a Bucky as Captain America.

Are you a teacher in Miller Place? She LOVED Sacred Hearts...unfortunately had terrible roommates...long story:rolleyes2

Torrance. An interesting tidbit~Torrance High School was the high school used in the TV series 90210!

No, but I know some of the teachers there. My husband was a football coach at Miller Place many years ago and my daughter went through the Miller Place School system. I taught in Sayville.

Karen, I know what you mean. I would check every now & then and tell Donna just how well we did by booking early. (Kinda patting myself on the back!!!):cool1:

After reading what you wrote Steve, I checked as to what we paid for this cruise per person, and we came out pretty darn good ourselves. (Pretty proud of myself right about now!!! I done good!!!) :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Is the Dining Group for the Early seating or the Late seating? We are doing the late seating...anyone else??? Any 20 year olds going? Our kids will be 20 & 21 on the cruise wondering if there were any others they could meet up with.
I know our daughter wants to do zip line somewhere on an excursion anyone else doing that....because we're too chicken for that, plus I've had 3 back surgeries so it's a big NO NO for me, she was hoping to meet up with someone who she could tag along with.
She's our "movie star" this week. They are filming a Christopher Walken movie by us and she knows she's in several scenes as an extra because she was right near him...she's soooo excited :yay::cool1:
We are also doing late seating for dinner. I'm not in my 20's but I am planning on doing the Extreme Canopy Tour in Puerto Vallarta and I believe someone else from this group is. Also planning on swimming with dolphins in Cozumel.

I just watched "Blast From the Past." He's silly and grandpa like.

Love Brendan Frazier in Blast from the Past. Christopher Walkin is great too.

When we book excursions beginning June 14th or whatever the date is, do you pay for them then or when you get onboard? :confused3 I only ever booked parasailing at CC.

Welcome aboard new people and sorry to see you go people that have to cancel. I have to print a list just before leaving home so I can study it on the plane  so I can keep track of who is who.:yay:

I hope I caught you before you saw the movie. Please make sure you see ALL of the credits at the end of the movie as there are two shorts rather than the usual one. One after the "comic" credits and one at the very end. The movie was absolutely great but I will be interested to see how they overcome some of the plot twists created by this movie in future Avenger character movies.

One after the "comic" credits and one at the very end. The movie was absolutely great but I will be interested to see how they overcome some of the plot twists created by this movie in future Avenger character movies.

Here's what I know about Marvel and those twists:
1.) Marvel has been planning that twist/the major plot point since day one. They knew SHIELD wasn't a permanent thing.
2.) Marvel has up to the year 2028 planned with plot points for their Marvel Movie Universe. (so they have a resolution).
3.) Stephen Strange's name drop wasn't by accident.
4.) Chris Evans is signed up for 6 Marvel movies. So far (depending on if you count that bit in "Thor: Dark World") he either has done either 3 or 4. Add "Avengers: Age of Ultron" you have 4 or 5 movies he's done. Then add the next "Captain America" and you're at 5 or 6. So he's on the other half of his contract right now. And he's said he wants to retire from acting and direct (which means I'm going to be watching a lot of him on video because that man is darn good looking).
5.) Sebastian Stan has signed up for 9 movies. He plays Bucky/Winter Solider. The only other person with that type of contract is Samuel L.Jackson. And he's done 2 of this 9.
6.) In the comics when Steve Rogers passes, Bucky/Winter Solider becomes Captain America... I am thinking we will get a "Captain America: 3" and Steve Rogers passes away, Bucky takes the reins. Then in the next Captain America it's Bucky and he'll get flashbacks of Steve (which puts Chris Evans at the 6 movie mark. Although I heard he's going to be in "Avengers 3").
7.) Joss Whedon directed the first credit scene, which has a very horror movie vibe.
8.) Due to contract and Marvel selling Fox "X-Men" almost 20 years ago there's weird stuff regarding Quick silver and Scarlett Witch. So they won't be called mutants in the new "Avengers" movie, or talk about their dad (Magneto). But they will be in the movie. And Aaron Taylor-Johnson's Quick silver looks sooooooo much better than Evan Peter's Quick silver (and fun movie factoid: they both played in "Kick @ss" and "Kick @ss Two" as best friends.).
9.) I am a Marvel/superhero geek.
10.) Nick Fury's new journey is part of his Shadow Days/Lands time. So that's been mapped out in comics for awhile.

---
Hope that explains things. At first when I saw "Captain America: Winter Solider" I had a lot of the "What?!" moments. Then I started thinking about what I knew in terms of Marvel and their productions. It makes sense and isn't as scary.

So apparently they censored a character's name when I wrote it. Hm. So if there's a funky grammar thing, know that's why.
