Wonderful Panama Canal Sept 2014

Thank you for the very warm welcome!
We decided on this particular cruise with our young children because a) DH has always wanted to see the Panama Canal and b) we wanted to take the opportunity to cruise in the off-season before our 4 yr old starts kindergarten the following fall. And we also heard from friends who have cruised Disney that it was better to wait until the youngest was 3 so they could enjoy the club together. So here we are! Is there anyone else on here with kids of similar ages?
I signed us up for the FE - the kids will LOVE it!
I'm also going to post on the general boards my questions about dinner seating times with toddlers and the 3hr time change, and also food allergies.

Welcome. Time change will be gradual and on a cruise, it's kind of like Vegas- you'll lose track of almost semblance of time. 3 hrs won't be hard on the kids. Dinner/ definitely request main/dining. Late seating gets you done with dinner at 9:30-20:00~ at least it did for us. Food allergies- make sure you advise DCL in advance and you'll want to make sure the maître'd and you wait staff also knows.

P.S. We're in the final stages of packing for our Ruby Princess Caribbean cruise. With the winter we're having here in Maine I can't WAIT to board her on Thursday! When we get home perhaps winter will have breathed its last gasp and we can cruise into spring and summer..... and finally into September and the Panama Canal

As the time is getting closer we can not stop thinking about all the fun we are going to have.

This is going to be so much fun. For us it is all new ports of call, new experiences, and new people to meet and make new friends. Our first cruise as Gold member status. Next up for us is that Platinum Status!!! Got some shopping to do for this cruise, and still nailing down a couple of excursions we want to do. This waiting game is horrible....................I'm growing old waiting for my anti-aging cream to take effect!!!!

My sister reminded me a couple days ago it was 99 days until her wedding. Then I realized it was 182 days until we cruise. I just have to get through her wedding,and maid of honor duties....

In regards to the time changes: you don't realize it. Especially since we will be on a longer cruise and it'll be more spread out.

Quite a few years ago I was in process in building my own B9, ended up selling it because after the birth of my daughter I didn't have the time to finish it. Sold it to a guy in the Bay Area, he finished it and it even found its way on an episode of the short-lived series "Prototype This!"

My carry on tends to be my Mickey suitcase (the rolling ones we all seem to have) and my "small carry on item like a purse" tends to be either my backpack or my school bag. I carry big purses. This time I am packing my Mickey suitcase as my checked in bag, my LL Bean weekender bag as my carry on item, and my new Marvel messenger bag as my purse. Hope that helps!

Guys big news (okay big news for me...) :

Yesterday the girls and I went shopping for cruise clothes and I accidentally grabbed a size 10... it fit! It fit! I may have had a full freak out in the dressing room that involved jumping up and down and crying. Comparatively I wore a size 18 to start this off with. So yes I bought the dress. And I may have tried on inappropriate 2 piece swim suits that also fit.

Congrats!! I'm waiting a few more months before I buy cruise clothes. I may do just fine with the shorts, tanks, and t-shirts I have already. Dress clothes should be good. Think I may just need to switch out tops with a single skirt. Shoes didn't fit and I returned them and will be ordering in a different size. Gotta love Zappos.

Hi everyone! I'd like to introduce myself & my family as we will be joining your cruise in September. I'm Cheryl, and will be traveling with my DH, 4yr old son, and 3yr old daughter. I am so excited to be going on this cruise! It's our first Disney cruise, and the kiddos first cruise ever. I'm looking forward to planning and vacationing with you all!

Welcome aboard. Fish Extenders should be interesting with the number of families on this cruise. I hope I've got enough! Any idea what half is at this point? May need to do some last minute ordering. I'm so excited!! I love the secretiveness.

How do you pack for a 14 day cruise in only 3 bags? Will you be doing laundry?



Congrats!! I'm waiting a few more months before I buy cruise clothes. I may do just fine with the shorts, tanks, and t-shirts I have already. Dress clothes should be good. Think I may just need to switch out tops with a single skirt. Shoes didn't fit and I returned them and will be ordering in a different size. Gotta love Zappos.

I am under the firm impression it's going to be hotter than the devil's underpants, so I'm going to be living in shorts, tank tops, and have my hooded windbreaker packed just in case.

We plan to do laundry as well. The passage through the canal last time (August) it was 98 degrees with high high humidity!

I'm soooo dreaming about some warm weather now. Sooooo over the snow this year.
