Wonderful Panama Canal Sept 2014

Trees going up Wednesday after I get my baby back from her first college overnight stay.:(:scared1: How can she already be a senior in high school? It seems like just yesterday I was taking her on her first Disney cruise, but she was 7 then. Happy to hear everyone had a pleasant Thanksgiving. I was busy working. Can't pass up that holiday cash :rolleyes1

I told Mom that I was going to put the plane tickets on my new Visa and she was more than willing to just pay 1/2 the bill. Its hard to be responsible when trying to accumulate points.

Have a great week everyone!!

And a very Happy Tuesday to everyone. Thought I would post a photo of our Christmas tree for ya'll to see. The rest of the house is finally all finished with decorations. Every year it seems to take longer!! :confused3

Beautiful, David! I'm still working on gettng my stuff out and up. It takes me a week usually.

Thanks Stephanie. Like I said in my earlier post, it seems to take us longer each year to get everything out and up. Cause we always get more "stuff" to decorate with.

Stephanie, it looks like you and your DH are going to have a GREAT sail away this week-end. We are warming back up to the low 80's. And as you go further south on your cruise it should be even warmer. Hope you have smooth seas and nice weather for your cruise. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Funny, I was just thinking the opposite yesterday. I've been working on the front yard for 3 days now and estimate only two more days and I'm done. That's down from 7 days!

Thanks, David! I've been checking the weather in our poc....slightly hinky in Cozumel, otherwise, beautiful! :cheer2:

Good for you Steve!! I stopped decorating the outside of the house a few years ago. After next door neighborman decided to make it a competition. Heck, he was making it an all out war!!! Trying to out do me each year. Of course like my DW said if I would stop trying to out do him................:confused3 just wasn't going to happen!!! I did................really I did stop trying to out do the big dummy. I stopped buying more stuff to add to my decorating. But did he stop.............................................nnnoooooooooooooooo..............he added more and more each year. So I threw in the towel and let the big baby have the title of best decorated house on the street. (The Big Baby!!!):sad2::sad1::sad2:

When my aunt was alive, we would start putting up stuff in September. It feels weird not having the whole house set up for Christmas so late into the year. I am done with my Christmas shopping though, yay! I just need to figure out what to get my best friend who lives 1500 miles away.

We are all finished with our shopping as well. Waiting for a couple of things we ordered online to show up at the front door. Now, let the wrapping begin!!!

I vow not to let the ribbon on the gifts get to me this year. Last year, I had almost all of the gifts all ready wrapped, bows in place, and name tags filled out and on the gifts. DW comes walking in, I look up at her with a big smile on my face, proud of all I have accomplished. She takes one look at the wrapped presents and says, " You are going to put ribbon on those presents aren't you?" and walks out of the room. I then had to redo everything!!!! :sad2: :crazy2: :crazy2:

There used to be a bit of a friendly rivalry between me and one of my neighbors. He had to move away for a job. I really miss him.

I live on one of those streets that decorates to the nines every year. So starting next Saturday the entire county will start driving by my house. I have to do it up big. It's been a tradition for over 50 years.

That's sounds like my issue with washi tape. Washi tape is adorable, but in my hands.... I end up covered in the stuff.

Ours is a fairly new neighborhood. At least it was about 20 years ago. We had our home built and moved in. Then nextdoor neighborman moved in a year later. We got to know one another and talked about, like your neighborhood Steve, having it be a well decorated neighborhood at Christmas time. All was fine for the first couple of years or so. Then he goes and gets all crazy on me!!!:confused3:confused3:confused3 (I think the man has a mental problem!)

Sounds like another Osborne Family Christmas Lights saga! Wish I was visiting Hollywood Studios this year.

I haven't put out the yard decorations since I became single 2 yrs ago. Maybe next year with my new manfriend :confused3.

Trees look great so far. Hopefully we get ours up Saturday. It all depends on the weather.

We lovingly call him Griswold from the movie "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation." He is in many ways allot like Clark (Sparky) Griswold in the movie. You should see him out there putting up his lights. Running around like a chicken with it's head cut off! The man cracks me up every year. And, if you try to stop him to talk to him, in the middle of his decorating..................................well just forget it!!! It's hilarious!:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

We have this Christmas snowman who talks. We call him "Bobby," I don't know why, but we do. He is about 2 feet tall and we have him facing the front door. When anyone comes in the front door he has a sensor in his hat that detects movement and he will say a few different phrases. Like, " Come on in, it's warm inside," or "Take your coat off and stay a while," and a couple of other phrases, you know things like that. It's kinda cute, and it goes with allot of our Christmas decorations.

So, ok, I'm home alone this afternoon, and sitting in my chair watching the TV. All of a sudden, "Bobby" says, to know one, "Come on in, it's warm inside." Now no one is here but me, no one or anything any where near "Bobby." No cats walking in front of him. No one came in the front door. But this crazy thing starts talking to no one. I look around, I see no reason for "Bobby" to be talking. So, I laugh it off and go back watching the TV. Then a couple of minutes later, "Bobby" says, "Take off your coat and stay a while." Now I got to be honest with you this stupid thing, "Bobby," is beginning to freak me out!!! Still no reason for him to be saying anything. My mind starts to racing, do we have a ghost!!!:scared1: No..............ghosts are invisible, they wouldn't set "Bobby" off to talking. What in the world could it be. Again, I go back to watching the TV, but watching "Bobby" out of the corner of my eye. And, as you might have guessed, for the third time, "Bobby" says, Come on in, it's cold outside, stay a while." Now I've never heard him say this much. AND, I might add here it ain't cold outside here either. We are in the low 80's here for the next few days. I'm totally FREAKED OUT at this point. I'm expecting "Bobby's" head to turn around and look at me!!! I got to tell ya, I'm shaking in my boots here now. I don't know how I did it, but I got the nerve up to go over and look "Bobby" square in the face. It's a sinister looking face. So, I'm about to haul off and knock that stupid lookin grin off of "Bobby's face, when I notice a piece of fuzz sticking to "Bobby's" hat. And every now and then a breeze from the ceiling fan will move it in front of the sensor on his hat setting him off to say one of his phrases. Problem solved. You know, the more I look at him....................he's kinda cute looking little guy.
That's my Christmas story for this year. So, MERRY CHRISTMAS everyone.
