Wonderful Panama Canal Sept 2014

oke since im about a month away from booking my plane tickets what airport in the us is the best to connect true

We'll be flying into the airport in San Diego, but Los Angeles is close enough that you may want to check flights to there to see if they cost less or are more convenient.

If you are planning on making a stop at Disneyland before the cruise, a Los Angeles airport would be most convenient. Are there any Southern Californians that can help out with the best way to get from LA to the San Diego port?

Personally, LAX scares me. I fly in there to go see family, but the LA airport is like the worst airport ever, worse than Sea-Tac (a nice airport). Orange County/John Wayne is a nice airport but expensive. Long Beach, my uncle and brother love. I'm a sucker for Ontario, but that's partially because I grew up down the street and it's small and sweet (it reminds me a lot of the Bellingham, Washington airport.). You can take the I-15 straight down. Totally bias.

I'm tempted to book my Hotel, but still paying off another vacation. So, I gotta hold off. There are some great hotels in San Diego.

FYI - I just made reservations at a 3 star hotel a block away from the cruise terminal using AAA rate. Total $139.25. This offer was better than the pay in advance rate and allows you to cancel reservation without penalty. It offers free airport and cruise terminal shuttle and is starting room renovations November 2013. Now I have to wait for cheap airfare!

Good Morning Everyone. How is everyone doing today?........................I can't hear you:listen:.......................did I hear someone there in the back?!??...................................................:listen::listen: Well ok, I guess everyone is doing well!!! I just wanted to say hi to all of you. Hi.

I also, wanted to share a packing tip with all of you. I came across this from someone going on the Oasis we are sailing on later this week. Some of you seasoned travelers may know about this, or do this. I had not, and never even gave it a thought. Since Donna and I are not the seasoned travelers, and we haven't flown in a number of years. When packing soft sided suitcases, some seasoned travelers when packing will put a large garbage bag in the bottom of their suitcase. Then put their clothes in and put another large garbage bag on top of their clothes before zipping up the suitcase. This helps keep your clothes dry in case your suitcase sits out in rain while it waits it's turn to be put on the plane or ship. Another one said they get one of those plastic painting drop clothes and they cut a big rectangle out of it to put in the suitcase. They line the bottom and all 4 sides with the plastic drop cloth - pack their clothes then fold up the 4 sides up over the clothes creating a complete water proof barrier for their clothes. Now if you have hard sided suitcases this may not need to be done. I thought this was a pretty good tip. Hope it helps. :thumbsup2

Holy crap! Dude... How many weeks on vacation does that mean?

I'm a sucker for travel tips on pinterest so here are my tips:
Following this blog:

(She has a 30 days to packing a better bag column. Also she talks about the infinity skirt, which I bought in Saint Thomas. Love. Mine has a very traditional print fabric and a wild side.).

And here's my pinterest travel board:

I am a sucker for book themed travels, so there are pins regarding that. There are also things I found interesting. Stuff pinned for my sister....

All together it will be almost 5 weeks! Had to go sweet talk my wife's boss to get clearance first. Wife was too afraid to ask. I think I have it cleared with my boss, but some stuff at work changed so it's a little bit unsure right now, but I'm hopeful.

The tough part will be not having any more time off work from now until then, since we are banking them all together and blowing it all at once. Or the other tough part...saving enough money to pay for it! :faint: Got a bit of a start in the vacation fund, but gonna have to buckle down now. Fingers crossed.

Oh golly. 5 weeks?! That's awesome. I'd miss my dog and cooking too much. I'd be begging them to let me back into the galley to cook something.
"Let me use your giant slow cooker!!!! I need to make something!"

Fingers crossed for you!! Wow, I could really get into that and I wouldn't miss cooking at all!!! I've been doing that for long enough, it's a treat to have someone else behind the stove. But I would have to do lots of :yay::yay::yay: !!!

Just wanted to add a note to all here. I will not be on here much until we get back from our RCCL Oasis cruise here in a couple of weeks. So much to do and so little time to get it all done. :confused3[/QUOTE]

Have FUN Dave! We LOVED Oasis and Allure! we just got back from 12 days in New England and our RCCL Brilliance cruise to NE & Canada. Beautiful and fun; but now, I can plan more for my next 3 vacations- all DISNEY including our cruise! It's going to be a very Disney year! So excited!!! Official countdown mode begins!

I am a dork. I adore cooking. My friends give me such crow because on my days off I cook all day and my favorite thing to do in the whole world is use my meat smoker.... yep the whitest girl in the world outside in my pjs (leggings, t-shirt, sweatshirt, and sandals... get the image) standing outside on the deck with my beer at 0800 and a meat smoker behind me...It's how I de-stress. When I was in my LPN program everyone knew the more detailed the recipe was the more stressed I was. We had a potluck and the head of the department came up and was like "are you okay?" because I had brunoised the pickles and bacon for the potato salad- I may have been a little stressed. :cool1:

We are counting down the days here.

Thanks Maria. We leave this Friday to drive down:drive: to Fort Lauderdale and stay over night at a park & cruise hotel. They will shuttle us over to the port and pick us up when we get back. (At least I hope they will come back and pick us up after the cruise??!!??):lmao: After this Oasis cruise all the rest of our trips are Disney as well, this year and next. Talk to ya'll when we get back!!!:wave2:
