Sincere apologies if this has been asked/discussed already (this is one mighty busy thread!) ...

What are people (particularly non-US) doing about currency for the Mexico and Columbia excursions? I understand that the ship can exchange currency and wondered how their rates compared.

We aren't thinking of spending a lot of cash during those stops so I was thinking that taking US$ with us and then getting the ship to exchange as we need might be the most stress-free solution even if the rate isn't great?

Anyway - comments and thoughts welcome!

Greetings & Welcome Philip!

I suspect that most of us (including me) will be using either US$ or credit cards, and I'm 99.99% sure that anyone in the ports we're calling at will accept them quite happily. You could exchange into either Mexican or Columbian pesos onboard, but I suspect you'll find that they won't give you a very good rate. Moreover, you'd be stuck with whatever coins you wound up with as exchange bureaus will usually only take paper money.

Perfect! Thank you so much for organizing this! Yesterday our group was looking at fun footie/footed pjs with the bum flap then it occurred to me we're going to be in the middle of the Caribbean in the hottest time of the year: Nope. My Olaf t- shirt and yoga pants it is! I may rock the fun Doctor Who socks, but there's a big chance I'm not packing socks on this trip.

Like Richard said earlier Philip, I believe you can use US$ in all of the ports we are stopping in. That is what we are going to use and we do have credit cards, but we more then likely won't use a credit card, we will use US$. We probably won't spend all that much in any of the ports either like you. But you never know, when that perfect souvenir, or gift might catch your eye!!!

will there be a character breakfast while we are on board as we have 3+ sea days? If so, do we only find out our assigned day when on board? Don't want it to conflict with the PJ breakfast!

Do you think we'll have some of the Pixar character meet & greets like the WBPC? Looking at their Navigators they had Woody, Buzz, Jessie, Remy, Emile, Dug, Flik, Mike, Sulley, Mr & Mrs Incredible all on one evening.

We'll be bringing both Mexican and Colombian pesos, in addition to some USD , credit card and ATM card. My preference is to use the local currency.

I found him on Cruise Critic on the Wonder Roll Call for Sept. 12 cruise. He hasn't posted anything since late 2013.

Yeah, I am really thinking they are not going on this cruise - he signed up for the FE in May of 2013 (yes, over a year ago) SOOOOO my guess is they cancelled and didn't tell anyone

We had the Pixar night on our West Coast Repo in May. It was cool seeing the characters but you didn't get any chance to get photos with them. I would love to see them at the character breakfast.
