Wonderful Panama Canal Sept 2014

It allows for printing on opposite sides of the outside (if that makes any sense) with a max of 25 characters per side, so I'm planning to have:

2014 Disney Wonder EBPC

and

Cruisin' thru Panama

I'm open to suggestions, but this is what I've worked out so far. :3dglasses

Richard

Sounds okay to me.

Do you have a particular color that you are thinking of?

You guys are talking about kids expecting their parents to pay for their cruises. My first Disney cruise I took my dad, paid for everything. He laughed at how differently we vacation (I have everything organized before, shuttles, hotels, everything is very organized and saved and pretty. Dad wings it!). I did it after I graduated my LPN program, and I could come home and be like "OMG Dad I saw the coolest thing!" whenever a nursing student says that... bad. And he helped me with my pharmacology stuff. So on that cruise I booked a dummy date, got my siblings souvenirs (my sister got spoiled with the cheekiest Mexican souvenirs. Brother and SIL got hot sauce)... even my dog got stuff (pirate bandanas). So I was looking through my suitcase, making a big deal like "uh where is it? Dang it, where did I put it?" looking for my mom's souvenirs (and it's like 2am but she wants her treats). Finally I pulled out the folder I got from Disney for the dummy date. And I looked my mom and was like "I couldn't find you a proper souvenir, so I figure you can get your own." I told her pick the cruise and I'd pay for it all (hotel, shuttles, cruise, tips...). It worked out well except somehow my uncle (her brother) came along too. My brother and sister were like "we get it Kim you are Mom and Dad's favorite. You take them on cruises..." I also get really injured on cruises.

You are a good daughter! :thumbsup2
I'd be happy if mine would offer to take over cooking Sunday dinner once in a while. That would make my day! :rotfl:

This made me cry... our parents are all gone, how I wish I could have done that for my parents! We took mom along with us to WDW after my dad passed away, but she always insisted on paying for everything. She never got a chance to go on a Disney Cruise (or any cruise) she would have loved it. We took my in-laws to WDW for their 50th Wedding Anniversary...it was the first time they ever flew anywhere as well as their one & only trip to WDW before my father-in-law's COPD got so bad he couldn't travel anymore. They all travel with us in spirit now.

I didn't intend to make you guys cry... I am just close with my folks. I mean like I said: I live 1.53 miles from my folks (something insane like 0.8 miles from my sister). So we're close...

So weird thing about my FE and I wanted to run it by you guys. I ordered my FE on Feb 25th. I told her we were cruising in September. I still haven't gotten it. She emailed me something in April saying she's working on it, and had an idea.... I ordered it on Etsy and still haven't gotten anything, and now it's too late to notify etsy about a problem. I messaged her and haven't gotten anything in response.

You are "crafty" aren't you? You could just make yourself one if yours doesn't show up.

Have you paid for it already? I'm not familiar with how all that stuff works.

I think it's awesome you are so close to your parents.

I don't know what to tell you. I've had good luck with the two I have worked with on Etsy, but it sounds like from you and others, I have been extremely lucky! I hope you haven't paid for it, but know you probably have. :(

well we will just have to have another craft say at your place and make one if it doesn't come in time

You're a good daughter; but, I do think it's generational thing- mostly. We (spouse and I) always stepped up when going out with our parents as well and after my mom passed, my Dad was very depressed for about a year. We took him to DL; to Hawaii, on a cruise and we paid for it all because it was important for me to get him back out in the world and moving! He did~ then he started dating (at age 81) and then I was depressed... and he didn't take me anywhere :* (

How are you all planning for things to do while in port? Any tips?

I know in Cabo our idea is to tender and putz (we had changed it up there for a few minutes... But we're back to putzing). In PV, Jessica wanted to go to the beach, so we're going to the Paradise Beach resort. In Cartegena we're doing the best of the city (because I was told you needed a tour for that.). In Cozumel we're putzing. I want to go to the chocolate shop and have a margarita. I think our plan is to bring our boss a box of chocolate and a pound of coffee.

How are you all planning for things to do while in port? Any tips?

Puerta Vallarta- mere 4 hrs in port-
walk shops, quick lunch/ drink
(We've stayed a week here, so no great need to explore.)

Cabo-only 3.5 hrs in port / tenders
Lunch/drink at restaurant on beach- short walk from marina where we tender; old church in vicinity to tour.

Cartagena- 4.5-5 hr private tour arranged with guide recommended on Trip Advisor. Authentic Columbian restaurant prior to reboarding.

Cozumel: Naci Coccom private beach club. On own, been to Cozumel more times than I can count in last 33 years (week long stays to numerous cruises) so just want a quiet, relaxing day at beach. Have been here several times- reasonable price, short taxi ride from port. Must make advance reservations if interested.

Richard, that sounds GREAT! I wasn't expecting anything printed on the wrist bands, I thought they would be a certain color we all would recognize and know "Hey that is someone from our DIS Thread!!!"

You are a good kid Kim. We lost both of our parents several years ago. We did and paid for all kinds of short trips and lunches/dinners for both our parents. Neither of our parents wanted to go too far from home. They just didn't feel comfortable traveling long distances. And, it was fun going places with them.

Now, flash forward to the present, and our kids don't seem to think ol' Mom and Dad here know how to have a good time. We took our son and granddaughter over to WDW shortly after they moved in with us after his divorce. It was her first trip to the most "Magical Place on Earth." He did nothing but complain the whole time. He is not a Disney fan. (I still tell Donna I don't think he is related to either one of us!):lmao: Now he has remarried to someone who also is not a Disney fan.:confused3 Now our granddaughter, his daughter, is a huge Disney fan like ol' Nana & Papa. We have taken her on several Disney cruises and trips to WDW. When ever she goes with us it's like 3 kids at the park or on the cruise!!!

Our daughter is a big Disney fan like her Mom & Dad. (She even looks kinda, sorta like good ol' Dad. Poor kid!!!):lmao: She has her own family with 3 kids that they are struggling to make it in todays economy. So we don't really expect them to pay for a trip or cruise. (Now, if she wins the lottery, that will be a different story all together!!!) :lmao: We have gone over to WDW a few times together. They pay for their portion and we pay for ours. (But we do buy all of the souvenirs for everyone, and most of the meals.)

Was that TOO much info offered???!!?

No; not TMI. Just a current economic climate sad fact of life. Many of the younger ones will not be able to do better than their parents; which every generation of immigrants and Americans strived for since the western world opened up. We have 2 of 3 in this situation; fortunately, at least one should surpass her mom and dad.

I'm turning to my fellow cruise mates here for an answer to a question I could not find an answer to. As you all may or may not know Donna and I are flying out to Sunny California a few days early to visit Disneyland. My question: Usually, what are the hours both parks open up in the morning, and what time do they close in the evening in the month of September? Thanks everyone. :thumbsup2

Go up to the top of this page and find the spot where it says Disneyland.

Maybe you can find some of your answers there.

I am looking at purchasing the print photo package. I know at WDW the photo pass+ (Memory maker) had extra photos around park. Does anyone know if photos of the canal be a apart of this package? Or just our pictures?
