Wonder - November 9, 2013 - Bahamas from Galveston

We just booked our vacation yesterday for the cruise leaving next month on the 9th. We have cruised before but never on Disney. We had to try to squeeze it in before they leave Galveston. We live in Fort Worth and is only a 5.5 hour drive to port so we have been itching to go. It will be my husband, myself, 16 son and 4 year old son. We are super excited and so need a vacation! :beach:
Welcome

I know there are several posts about tips, but what I'd like to know is if there was one thing you could recommend I not miss doing - what would it be? There are so many choices looking at a navigator from a recent cruise, what would be something you would suggest we NOT MISS on our first cruise? I'm sooo excited I can hardly wait for these next few weeks to go by!:cool1:

My family just booked this cruise!! It will be my husband, daughter(14), son (11) and daughter (8). This are second Disney cruise. We went ont the first sailing out of Galveston on the Magic back in September 2012. I know it is late but is the FE list still open?

I think it might be closed -- Dana broke it into 3 groups, I think (I'm not doing it). You can locate her way back on this thread or at our Facebook group:
https://www.facebook.com/groups/503413083058463/?hc_location=stream

There are 113 members in the FB group -- it says Kristi added another new one 59 minutes ago.

Oops -- just went back to FB -- I see you are already there! Welcome!

This is our first Disney Cruise. It'll be my husband, son (6) & daughter (10). We are super excited! I would like to know the answer to the above question, too. What is the one thing you just can't miss on this cruise? thank you!! We're signed up for FE so we'll meet some of you. Anyone with kids my age???
Tara :)

Nice to see you're still "on board" -- had been wondering where you disappeared to after getting this thread started!

:-) Yes, I'm still here, sporadically, and we're still going on the trip. (I'm pretty chatty on the facebook group, I just haven't been over here as much.) We're still super excited about the trip, but we've had an amazingly difficult last 6 months. I won't bore (or depress) y'all with the details. Let's just say our family is very ready for a vacation!

I made the mistake of mentioning something about the trip to our 2 year old, and her brother told her we'd be seeing Cinderella again on the ship. Now she keeps telling everyone she is about to visit Cinderella. Every day, she talks about going to visit Cinderella. I really hope Cinderella is well and healthy (and so available to be seen) on our trip!

It's been a while since anyone posted so I wanted to bump this thread up to the top. Also, as we are getting close to our sailing date, I wanted to float this idea:

On a couple of cruises on other lines, the Cruise Critic Board group would do what is called a Cabin Crawl. That is where people get together and go see each other's cabins in order to see the various types that are available on the ship. It was interesting to see the variety that the ships have. For example, as I had never been in a suite or in an inside cabin, it was great to see those.

This takes some coordination. You have to choose a day to do this, usually a sea day (and as we have so many of those, we should be able to find a day), and then you need to pick a time and go from there. The trick is to get people with various cabin types to agree to do it. Then, someone needs to organize the tour referring to deck layouts, etc. to create a logical pattern to the tour.

We usually spent about 5-10 minutes at each cabin to allow the people to roam around and look as not everyone on the tour will fit in the cabins all at once (except the large ones).

It's best to meet in a public location to start. The organizer creates a sheet listing all the cabins in the order that the tour is going and once everyone is there, off we go.

Anyone interested in trying to put this together? I am willing to show my cabin, category 7A, Deluxe Ocean view Stateroom with Navigator's Veranda.

If not, no big deal but I thought I would throw it out there.

I really like that idea! I would love to see the other cabins. I could try to put something together. I will also post this on the facebook page. We would only need to go to one cabin of each style right? So I'm thinking if we have multiple people volunteer to show same style rooms we could break into smaller groups and create a tour plan for each group. That sound ok? If people want to do this they can message me here, facebook or at my email address kris10new@yahoo.com.

Thanks for the idea Ken!

Hello! This will be my first Disney Cruise.

I've arranged a taxi tour of Nassau with a highly-recommended taxi tour guide.

My mother and my niece (8 years old) will be going on the tour, and we wanted to know if anyone would like to join us and split the expense.

The van can hold 12 more people.

We're planning on doing a 2-2.5 hour tour that ends at Ardastra Gardens. The tour is for a flat hourly fee, so the price will go down per person depending upon who would like to join us. If one person wants to join us, it would be $33.75 per person for the taxi (lunch and admission to the gardens extra), if we were to fill up the van, it would be $9 per person.

These are the places I've requested to visit:

• The pink government buildings in Parliament Square

• The queen's staircase

• John Watling's Distillery (the guide said the "tours" are about 15 minutes and kids actually do have fun on them)

• Perhaps the Cloisters

•Lunch at Fish Fry's (a string of eateries popular with locals and tourists alike) or perhaps at Potter's Cay (stalls with a variety of foods)

The last stop will be Ardastra gardens, where we will part ways with our taxi guide and stay as long as it pleases us. We're planning on catching another taxi back to the ship when we're ready to leave. This private zoo is known for flamingoes that are trained to march in formation.

Anyone who is interested in joining us, please email me at beta.eldridge(at)gmail.com.

Thanks!

What time is your tour? We might be interested depending on when you are going on it. Just let us know. There are 3 of us.

We are planning on leaving at about 10:30am... mostly because we can either sleep in late or explore the straw market before the tour. :)

Hi! I just found this message board. I'd be interested in participating in the Fish Extender fun... so if dallas (at) ccwired.tv would still like a FE buddy, I'm game!

I'll check tonight if we can do anymore. I will let you know via email. My email is kris10new(at)yahoo.com.

We'd love to do it! We just have to be back for our chocolate excursion by 1:45. There are 3 of us, so we only need 6 more for the 12! We would want to do the van though, no $33 trip. You can email me and we can exchange more info. kris10new@yahoo.com. Also, join the facebook group too! Lots of fun stuff through there as well.

The more I see reported on the "new, re-imagined Magic", the happier I am that we're on the good 'ol Wonder. Those poor people!

This is our first Disney Cruise! Mysel, my husband and kids 3 girls, ages 11, 9 and 7 and 1 son who is 7. We leave in 12 days and I just found what the fish extender is. Is this something we sign up to do ahead of time?

I am also on this cruise line and I just found out about his FE thing, is it to late for us to join in on it? I have g-11, g-9, g-11 b-7
