Has there been any official word as to where these ships will be summer 2012? I usually have my summer vacation planned, if not booked by now. If the Wonder goes back to Alaska, I need to decide between that and Aulani. Anybody have any insight?

Nothing out yet about it...but we heard that the Med was pretty much out of the picture for the Magic in 2012....but who knows.

Someone posted the other day that they heard April 1st to be the day the itineraries would be released.

Oahu is holding a slot in May 2012 and again in September 2012 for the Wonder

Yes, you are right...that has been posted for several months now.....looks like a repo cruise at the beginning of the season and end of season. What goes on in between is the question!!!

So how long would a repo cruise starting on the West Coast stopping in Oahu and ending in Asia take? It seems like a long one!! Also....I wonder how potentially rough those waters would be.

Does someone have a link for the info on the "Oahu slot?" Man, we were SOOOO hoping to do a family cruise to Alaska next summer!

Why is the Med out for 2012?

I believe it was May 7,8 and then September 10 ( maybe)

I hope they announce it soon. As a family of five it will take me a while to save up but I need to know where they are going so I can decide how much I need to save. :thumbsup2

So where does everyone think the Wonder will sail to if it stops in Hawaii in May and Sept?

Australia or Hong Kong?

Just because a MR cruise does not do well during the slower months, why should they cancel all MR cruises during the busy season? I have kids I can not do Hawaii, or MR during the school year and lets face it Disney cruises are aimed primarily at families with kids, so they should run these cruises in the summer.

I am just frustrated that they may do Hawaii or MR, but not in the summer, really. Alaska holds no appeal to me at all and it does not leave out of the LA port, which is near DL.

I am waiting for the Wonder cruise announcement.

MR is not a summer destination. WAY too hot. Unbearably so at times.

DCL did not cancel any MR cruises. The Alaska dates have been scheduled for the summer cruises since 2011 was announced for the Wonder. Mexico is far too hot for summer sailing. I understand your frustration but claiming things that aren't true is going a little far.

FWIW, Kids Sail Free has filled up the MR cruises so far and soon the spring break cruises will start, which are quite full without any discounts. So the MRs are doing just fine in the slow season.

We live in the LA area and have done three cruises with DCL out of LA , the 2008 EB Panama and two MR cruises. We also have school aged children and we would like to see something in the summer out of LA other than MR. But what can DCL do out of LA? Can they have one way trips to Vancouver BC and back again?

I am talking about 2012(thread title 2012) and secondly do not assume.

I have been on the boards for quite awhile, but I am a newbie when it comes to cruises as everyone has been at one point or another so forgive my ignorance.

I did not know that they NEVER do MR cruises in the summer, in fact this is the first time I have read this, so please do not think that I making outrageous claims.

This is truly what I thought, now that I understand I will still be dissapointed in any case, but it still does seem that on all cruise lines so many destinations seem to be out of reach in the summer time from the LA departure port, including Hawaii. This is important to me because we really want to see DL and tack on a cruise afterwards without an added flight expense.

My logic if the Caribean/Bahamas/Florida is not too hot in the summer why is MR too hot? Is it really that much hotter?

My logic that MR booking are not doing as well as other DCL cruises is because, I can still book ANY category room for April vacation to MR for my kids April school vacation in 2012 for begining prices. Where as that is not the case for the other sailings offered by Disney during this time period going to other destinations, could be that they are new ships, but really that much more?. Add this to the fact that I have read here on this forum people alluding to the fact that MR cruises were falling short of Disney expectations. Although recently I have been reading positive reports from DIS'ers.

If you check any of my posts over the years, I am not one to be a rabble rouser/ I am just an ignorant newbie:guilty:, and I try to always be polite. :goodvibes

Plus, I am an Aug./Sept girl for DW so sweltering heat does not bother me, just my hair.:scared1:

DCL has done the MR during the summer before, and it didn't seem any hotter to us than WDW in July. Disneyland gets hot too, but the humidity is much more bearable.

Meanwhile, Alaska is a very lucrative, er, popular cruising destination, and with all the political unrest in Mexico -- Disney isn't the only cruise line limiting ports of call there -- it makes more sense to do Alaska during the summer and limit the MR cruises to the winter months when Alaska is too cold.

Hawaii -- we'll take that when we can get it, tho it's much more comfortable during the winter than the summer months.

For what it's worth, we've cruised Alaska four times, and it's by far our favorite place to cruise during the summer.

I am another one would love it if DCL would do a MR in the summer. I live in Florida, and the heat wouldn't bother me. We have sailed on a 7 night in the Caribbean in the summer...no more unbearable than where I live in the summer. It's all relative. While I would love to head to Europe to do the Med...won't happen until DD is a lot older, and we skip a year or two of cruising to save.

We have pulled DD out of school in Dec the past few years as we love the Caribbean cruises before Christmas...just can't pull her out in the spring for a MR after I just took her out for a week in December. We are taking a 4 night on the Dream in Oct, so she will miss 3 days of school, may be we will have to think about a MR in 2012. Only extra obstacle is the flights and adding a day on each end of the cruise too.

Unfortunately, for vacation planning, DH works at WDW, so school breaks are out for him...can't take the time off as it's blocked out. Our options are taking DD out of school, or taking a trip in the summer.
