Wonder July 16, 2010

I have added your thread to the cruise meets list :thumbsup2

Let's get this thread populated!!!!

We are cruising with our Son (age 6) and daughter (age 4)...

Anyone interested in an FE Swap?

-- Karen

I will be cruising with my brothers (19) and dad. Going for my Dad's 51st Bday!!! I would love to do an FE but I don't think the rest of my group would go for it. Would love to know some other people on board before we go though!

First time cruiser here -- of any kind!! My wife and I for sure would love to take part in a FE swap. We are also bringing our kids (son 5 and daughter 3). My sister/husband are also going, also with kids 5 & 4. What fun!! We all live in Orange County, CA.

Haha, cigars in the FE....hmmm. Actually we are trying to just pack carry-ons so the FE probably would not work even if I could get them on board with it. No Disney before or after for us either. We're flying in the day of and flying out the day we get off the boat. I have the day before the cruise off of work so I am going to see if it would be possible for me to go down there the day before, possibly with one of my brothers. I am a campus rep for the college program so I kept all my "benefits" of working at Disney, including park admission. Of course these benefits just mean I have an easier time justifying Disney trips (It's just such a great deal...lol!)

Is anyone else going to Disney pre- or post- cruise?

Somewhat new to these boards- what is a FE?

We are taking the land package for 4 days after our cruise, we have been to WDW many times on our anniversary week, first time taking the cruise. Very excited.

We know we will have the second seating for dinners, is there any way to know ahead of time which nights are which in the rotation? We are trying to plan the best night to eat at Palo but don't want to miss Triton as we heard it's a fun experience also.

Another silly question- room service.. is it free like the meals or charged to the room like the resorts? I figure we are going to need cash for tipping, just wondering if we should budget more for in room food...

Anyone that has taken the cruise before- is the pirate party, sail away party, etc. interesting for adult only groups as well or are they more kid oriented? We have no kids but love Disney vacations.. just wondering if we should go through the effort of going to the events if they are more for the families..

Can't WAIT!!

I hope I can help! First of all Congratulations on (almost) 14 years!! As far as I know there is no way to find out your dining rotation. I think you might be able to call DCL and request a rotation but there are no guarantees. I would have a really hard time picking a restaurant to miss but if it came down to it I guess I would choose Triton's, for me Animator's Palate is one I wouldn't want to miss.

Room service is free (except for soda and bottled drinks - there are free fountain drinks on deck 9). You just need cash for the tips. And the best part is the mickey ice cream bars (not listed on the menu but they have them and you can order them.

As for the parties...I love them but I love all things Disney. They are a great way to get in the Disney spirit and get a little goofy without getting stares. Of course, my brothers think differently. I would suggest watching it from Deck 10. All the kids seem to be on Deck 9 so that area did seem more kid oriented to me but that's just my opinion.

Good luck with your planning! Hope to see you on the boat! Are you planning on doing any excursions?

We will also be on the July 16th four night.
It's just the two of us.
We can't wait for our fourth Disney cruise!!
I also am curious about FE.
We weren't on the boards/threads last Wonder trip in 2003.
Can someone explain?
Thanks!!

This is my first Disney Cruise... I've been reading the boards to get psyched up...

Here's what I have figured out about FE...

Outside you stateroom door is a metal "hook" that looks like a fish.
Some people hand pocket-like organizers on that hook and extend
the "fish" into a gift receptical.

Someone on the DIS boards, organizes a FE swap where people either buy or make small gifts for others on board. Then, the list is sent around with state room numbers and people deliver gifts to the members of your cabin in exchange for gifts in theirs.

Hope that makes sense...

Sounds like fun!
Any ideas what make nice FE goodies?
Also, where would you get the pocket thingy to hang?
Thanks for all the info..

My wife, son (2) and I are booked for this cruise. We have been to Disney many times (as well as worked there once), but this will be the first Disney cruise. We also have the second dinner seating. Anyone actually get the first? I understand you can ask to have it changed to the first one when you get there, but dunno how likely that is to happen. Anyone from NC going?

If we are going to an FE exchange we really need to see who and what ages we have. Here a summary.... if I missed you, let me know.

Don't know if this will be enough... we can give it a couple more weeks.

ksalerno1 - 2 adults, 2 kids (girl, age 4) (boy, age 6)
JustinTime2SailAway - 2 adults, 2 kids (boy, age 5) (girl, age 3)
Jaysgirl - 2 adults

Hi there. I am also on the July 16 Wonder cruise, just me and my son (6). i'm game for the FE thing even though I have never heard of it before, and would love to know some people onboard before we go, especially with kids close in age to my son.

@justintime2sailaway - we're not from OC but we are from California, up in the SF bay area. I used to live in L.A. and work partly out of Irvine though. Long way to go for a cruise but I am sure it will be worth it!

Very cool! We have our 5 1/2 year old son, 3 1/2 year old daughter, along with our nephews -- 5 1/2 and 4

I don't think it's going to be worth it... only 7 kids... two are mine which really only makes us + five.

If anyone else wants to organize it, I think I'm bowing out... less than a week to go and I don't have an FE since I was hoping to get at least a dozen kids.
