Wonder January 4 2016 Galveston to Puerto Rico

Hello DIS cruisers!

Our family is considering joining y'all on this cruise out of Galveston ... We haven't pulled the trigger yet.

I have a question: On the Disney Cruise website, the itinerary shows that the ship will pull into St. Thomas, USVI around 12:15 AM (late night) on Friday, January 8th -- meaning the ship will remain in port for a full 17.5 hours that day. However, all of the various online travel websites show a much shorter port time, with the ship not docking at St. Thomas until 12:15 PM (providing a ridiculously short 5.5 hours in port).

Does anyone know, definitively, which is the correct expected port arrival time?
I would assume the AM time is correct, but have you tried calling DCL directly? Many of the excursions listed by Disney are longer than the 5.5 hours that a PM arrival time would provide.

I did email Disney. It took them several days to respond, but I did just receive their reply this morning.

Unfortunately, it is BAD news ... They have told me that the Disney website is incorrect. The ship will only be in port for 5.5 hours, arriving at St. Thomas at approximately 12:15 PM. A 5 hour port call is pretty ridiculous. As you point out, that precludes participation in many of the shore excursions that Disney, itself, is advertising to its customers.

The website now shows us arriving at 12:15 PM. I don't understand why the early departure when one of the excursions listed for St Johns includes a ferry ride to Tortola that they indicate is an hour ride.

hi can anyone tell me how i can get in the FE list or if there is any room?

We have room. I just need names of everyone in the room, ages of kids, stateroom # to start with and I can get you added.

ok great..thank you.. its me (karina) , my mom( leticia) and my daughter ( sofia 8years old) room: 2112... Girls Trip!! ... so is there a place i can read the rules or what i need to do... this is our first Disney cruise.

We weren't planning to cruise again until 2017 at the earliest, but just pulled the trigger on this cruise! I've never booked a cruise on such short notice before; we usually book 12-18 months out.

My son is in his first semester of college, and had such a good time on our last cruise that he's been begging to go on another one. My whole extended family lives in Houston, Texas, so we plan to fly down to visit with them over the holidays, and then go on our cruise! We can't wait!

This is a bit annoying. The website still says the incorrect 12:15 a.m., which I made a point of noting yesterday when deciding to book this cruise. Guess we're not going to be able to do much in St. Thomas...

Edited to add: I just checked again. The old DCL website (which is still loading on my Safari browser) shows the incorrect time. The new DCL website (which is loading on Firefox) shows the correct later arrival time.

Thanks for the welcome! :earsboy:

We are planning to stay a couple of nights in PR following the cruise. We've decided to rent a car, because my son and I want to go scuba diving elsewhere on the island.

Does anyone know the best way to get from the San Juan cruise ship terminal to the rental car agencies? Most seem to be near the airport. Should we take DCL transportation to the airport, or take a taxi, or do the rental car companies pick you up at the cruise ship terminal? How much is the DCL transportation to the airport, anyway? (Hopefully less than the cost to go from Port Canaveral to the airport.) Thanks!

So what (if anything) is everyone doing in St John's? With only 5 hours in port I'm not really sure what to book

Would like to be added to the FE list. Room 8532, Amber, George and Oliver (Ollie) [age 5]. Can you send me the update FE list so I can start getting things together? Thanks.

May we get added to the fish extender list as well? Michael, Caryn & Todd (age 14). I need to check on our stateroom # & post it.

Hi Everyone!

I just booked our first Disney cruise! It'll be myself, my husband, my son (a freshman in college), and my daughter (a senior in high school). We had always wanted to do a Disney cruise, when they were younger, but it never worked out. Then I thought they were too old. I was SO happy when several of their friends went last year and told them how awesome it was! :-)

It's going to be their Christmas present this year - so the hard part will be not telling them until then. While looking for ways to share the surprise, I came across a blog with info on FEs and would love to do this! I'll PM laenie and twokats to sign up.

I look forward to getting to know everyone!

Kim

OK, I'm clearly a little forum-challenged. :-) I'm not seeing how to PM anyone.

If someone can help, that would be great! Because I'd love to join the FE. Thanks!!

Corwin - we're a family of divers too! How old is your son? My kids are 18 & 17.
