Wonder - January 21, 2011 The Cruise To Nowhere In Particular..

We still have 3 cabins showing GTY on the FE list - please let me know your cabin numbers so I can update the list so everyone knows where to find you!

Thanks!

what do you guys think about using your cell phone on this cruise? will there still be roaming charges when we aren't really leaving california?

Once they are out to sea, they will turn on the ships cell signal, and you won't be able to get the land towers.

....which reminds me....

You guys know about the 'wave' phones they are putting in the staterooms? Can't remember if we talked about it on this thread. Each stateroom will have 2, suites will have 4. They will replace the pagers for the kids clubs, and you can use them to call each other (and anyone els onboard) around the ship. So if you get up early and wander off, take one with you and your family can find you. :thumbsup2

There's a hefty fine if they are lost or damaged (don't send them with the kids to the pool), but if you don't want to use them, you can turn them in to guest services. Both the Wonder and the Magic get them sometime this month, I think.

I think that these are an excellent idea.

So excited for these! They are going to make things on board so much easier now!!!

FROM DISNEY-
Beginning on the Dec. 16, 2010, sailing of the Disney Wonder® and the Dec. 28, 2010, sailing of the Disney Magic®, families will have a great new way to stay in touch with one another. Portable Wave Phones will enable Guests to contact members of their party while onboard the ship or ashore at Disney’s Castaway Cay.

All staterooms will now offer two portable Wave Phones for complimentary use during the length of the cruise. Four phones are provided in the Royal Suite and 2-Bedroom Suite categories. Guests can rent an additional phone from Guest Services for $3.50 per day.

The Wave Phones replace the paging system previously used by Youth Activities. Parents with children participating in activities are now never more than a text message or phone call away.

All Guests are encouraged to utilize the Wave Phones for staying connected with their party while on the ship or at Disney’s Castaway Cay. However, Guests can opt out of using these phones and have the Wave Phone service disconnected in their staterooms.

If phones are lost, damaged or not returned to the stateroom prior to debarkation a $250 charge per phone will be applied to the Guest’s stateroom account. This charge will be mentioned on the payment authorization form that Guests complete during the check-in process.

So does the child take one with them to the kids' club? I sure do hope the counselors have a safe place to put them!

No, it is for when the kids club pages the parents. Instead of carrying the pager that only worked one way with the kids club now the club will utilize the phones. :thumbsup2

Super! I was thinking of them as walkie talkies....so the child can leave theirs in the stateroom, but mom can still be called on hers by the counselors. Thanks for clarifying!

I had not heard about these phones, thats just what i wanted to use my cell for: to find my daughter on the ship! what do the phones look like?

I'm sooo excited. I just booked this January 21 cruise, therefore adding this cruise put's me on back to back Disney cruises because I'm on the January 23 Mexican Rivera cruise. Yeah baby!

Wow! You found a stateroom! this things been sold out for quite a while!

I'm looking forward to doing the B2B cruises on the Dream next year. I've never done B2B before so it'll be an adventure. (And it'll make me a Gold CC'er!)

Forgot to mention. I'm so excited that I called DCL today. I just wanted to confirm that they had me as a return cruiser! And they did!:banana::banana:

I wanted to be sure I could check in at the Castaway Club check in line. Early. :rotfl:

Yes, I was really fortunate to find a stateroom but I had been checking several times a day since Monday. I've done one other B2B cruise but that was on Holland America. Have a great time on your cruise next year on the Dream.

I really wish we could make this a B2B, but we can't afford it, nor can we miss classes this early in the semester for fear of being dropped. :(
