Wonder in Alaska!!! May 27, 2013

I moved this ressie to June of this year today. I decided to do the EBTA next May and, unfortunately, I can't do both the EBTA and the Alaska.:sad2: Have a great cruise.

Jilljill- my DH can be a little slow to make his mind up, lol!
And Brumbie that was exactly his concern, but after Mexico he knows that our part of the cruise will be booger free!! :)

I'm thinking we are going to do a sea kayak excursion and maybe the horseback ride- what excursions are you guys looking at?

I have no idea what we will do.
We have looked through the Alaska excursions, but a lot of them are so expensive. I am going to wait to pay off my cruise before I decide what to do for excursions.

The only thing that I know we will be doing is the Lumberjack Show in Ketchikan. I might have to get my DD an all day pass since that's all she'll want to do there. :rotfl: :rotfl2: :lmao: That's all she's been talking about since I booked this cruise. She has this 'thing' for lumberjacks and we've even had to go and seek out a couple of them from the Lumberjack Show we went to this past August in AK. We found out that one of them lives a little over an hour from us. :headache:

We did the ABD (Adventures By Disney) cruise add-on last time and highly recommend it if in the budget. We were able to do so many things in each port that couldn't have been done on our own.

The hi-lite of our trip, other than lumberjacks for DD, was the helicopter to the dog mushing camp while in Juneau. That was the ultimate experience for us. Riding over the glacier was amazing and we all got to 'drive' the back sled.

In Skagway, Jewel Gardens was amazing. Even tho it was a small place the flowers were exquisite and the glass blowing was pretty cool to see too.

We went to the RainForest in Ketchikan and that was pretty cool walking over the skybridges and looking for bears on the forest floor. Finding the mama bear and her cubs crossing the stream was neat and not all of our group was able to see them.

Great reviews...we have time to think about it I know, but it's fun to read reviews and see photos!

We booked a verandah this time around! We had an oceanview room last time due to an upgrade on day 2 of our last cruise, and I think I just need to be able to see daylight in our room!

When do we find out what our cruise is named??

BowlerHatGirl - You will love having a verandah in AK. You never know when you are in your cabin and need to run out to see whales or dolphins or the breathtaking sights. Make sure you have your camera at the ready at all times.

You find our what the cruise is named when someone comes up with a catchy name. You can start off with some ideas......

DH and I are excited to get to sail to Alaska on the "Wonder". Can't wait for another great "Fish extender" group. This is our second cruise, and my third with Disney. :yay:

Welcome! This will be our second cruise. Our last one was in January to the MR, so we're going back to the Wonder, and we're so excited for it!

As the time gets closer, more people will show up here and I'm sure we'll have a good FE group.

Oh no!! Myhrt2themouse is here??? There goes the ship! :sad2:

Ok, ok-Just kidding!!! Can't wait to hear the sail away horns with you again sister!!:lovestruc:yay:

Welcome Stitch! Hope nothing gets in the way for you this time!
I'm always paranoid about stuff happening. I signed up for "cancel for any reason" trip insurance so that I won't be out the money if something comes up.

Thanks, Brumbie! I know it's a long way off, but we are plenty excited! I've even been checking out the Adventures by Disney 2011 offerings in the event that they are similar for 2013. Hopefully, they learned from the fiasco this year.

What's the deal with Adventures By Disney in relation to our cruise?
I didn't know anything about that.

We did the ABD add-on for our cruise this past August and it was $$$$ well spent. We had the time of our lives and walked away with life long friends and memories from truely great adventures.

ABD has done some add-on's for cruises in the Med and this past year they offered them for most of the AK sailings. The cost is in addition to the cruise cost and includes onboard gratuities, all land excursions in the 3 AK ports, Palo dinner with wine pairings for those 18+, 3 or 4 onboard receptions with drinks and treats, other special goodies and we also rec'd a case of water in our cabin. You have 2 guides that are with you the entire time and they become like family, at least Korey and Landon felt that way to our group.

What she said. :rotfl2:

Would you consider the ABD add-on if it's similiar to the 2011 one that was offered? I would consider it IF they offered if for our sailing. I don't think they offered for the first couple of sailings in 2011, but then they started their AK season a bit earlier too.

I would definitely consider it. I may not ever go back to Alaska (too many other places in the world still on the list!), so I want to do as much as possible. The helicopter tour and dog mushing adventure sounded super fun.

That was definately the hi-lite for us. Plus, it was nice to be with the same group of people for a week, getting to know them and become friends.

Hello!
