Wonder getting REPO'ed to Vancouver!: May 20th, 2013 Official Thread!

Hello all! It looks like if all goes according to plan, we will be joining you on this cruise!

We did our first ever cruise a couple weeks ago (sept 3rd) to Alaska from Seattle to Vancouver, and absolutely fell in love with dcl! We booked a dummy date on board, and have now decided to aim for this cruise! We are crossing everything nothing foils the plan ;) we live in Seattle, so these pacific coast cruises are so much easier for us to plan!

It will be me, my DH, and our DS who will be 4. He has several developmental and medical special needs, and we found that the cruise was perfect for us, because we could do activities, and have a quiet place to have down time when he gets overstimulated.

We are also in the process of adopting another child, most likely very soon after this cruise!

I believe 2 of my really good friends may be sailing on this date, too, which will be so fun!

Looking forward to getting to know you all over these months of waiting! :)

Welcome on board. I hope that you will get to join us.

Corinna

Last year we were in Vancouver very early, DH and I were up, had our breakfast at Parrots Cay and standing in Stanley Park at 9am. We were doing a B2B to Alaska so we didn't have the luggage thing happening. Below is the link to my trip report, it starts at DL for a couple of days before were boarded the ship, includes the repo cruise and the Alaska cruise. maybe you will find it helpful with some of your questions:

Hey Zakerdog, have you decided what are you going to do for this trip yet? We are from Niagara Falls. It is closer and easier to fly to LA from Buffalo (we will spend a few days in Disneyland before the cruise), but on the way back from Vancouver, Toronto seems to be a better choice. What do you suggest?

We usually fly to Orlando from Syracuse, it is about 125 miles and JetBlue has a direct flight. They do not have any direct flights to LA so we will fly out of Toronto. We plan to go about 5 - 7 days before and spend that time at DL. We will have Premier AP's and I love DL. If we were in your area and Southwest had a direct, we would go to Buffalo before Toronto. We used to live in Burlington so we flew out of Buffalo all the time.

I have a friend getting off of the Wonder this morning, and another friend getting on later this morning. They are part of the California Coast/PIXAR cruise. Weather is perfect this time of year.

WE also have friends that are getting off the first Pixar cruise. Can't wait to hear about their cruise.

Just sitting here thinking that this cruise leaves on a Monday :crazy2: . Now I'm starting to wonder if we should drive to the port on Sunday and stay there to avoid the Monday morning traffic :moped: .
The last time we cruised out of LA we stayed in Long Beach the night before the cruise and then went to D'land for a couple of days after the cruise.

Decisions.....decisions......

Still thinking when DD will fly out there from FL. She could go out Thur. night and stay with my cousin's DD for a couple of nights and play at D'land before we fly out.

It may be worth not feeling the stress of getting there in time!

Does anyone know where I can find a scan of the 2012 repo cruise Navigators? I think it might be useful for us.

I suggest searching for a trip report to see if they were posted there. But in reality, looking at any Navigator can give you an idea of what types of activities take place on board. Things can change from one cruise to the next, but generally looking at any Navigator gives a good idea of what to expect.

Here is my trip report from last years repo. That cruise from LA to Vancouver was 6 nights, the repo cruise next year is going to be 7 nights so it will be a bit different. The navigator would list the ship activites that might be similar but the entertainment will be different. The ship activities are pretty much the same on all of the Disney cruises.

We are finally officially booked! Got a great stateroom! My brother and SIL, and our really good friends are also both booked GTY for an inside room! So excited!

My DH (Jesse), DS (3) (Alex), and I will be joining you guys on this cruise. It is a graduation present for my DH. It will be our first time to visit San Francisco and Canada, so we are really looking forward to it. Can't wait to meet everyone! I will also send a PM to join the FB group.

Zakerdog I just read your trip report and enjoyed it very much! Thank you!
Now I'm even more excited about our upcoming cruise and trip to Disneyland! :thumbsup2

I just got done checking air fares for the two of us and I can save $400 by flying out of SEATAC vs Vancouver. DW is thinking about AMTRAK but it does not get into Seattle until after 10:00 pm. We would be interested in the bus. Does anyone have a recommendation on a hotel to stay at in Seattle that has a shuttle to SEATAC? We are getting excited, and we will be staying at DL before the cruise so we will see you at the hotel.

I just booked the Fairfield Inn Seattle Sea-Tac Airport which offers complimentary 24 hour shuttle to the airport. The address is 19631 International Drive, Seattle, WA 98188. Phone is: 206-824-9909. I booked it on-line and got a rate of $129 per night for two people (with taxes it comes to $145.)

We're also thinking about Amtrak but still trying to figure out the logistics. If that doesn't work we plan to take the Quick Shuttle to Seattle. We're spending a couple of extra days in Vancouver before going home.

The taxi was around $35. I think DCL was charging $25/person each way for transfers.
I would weigh the cost difference and then calculate the time needed to get to Seattle to see if the savings is worth it. Last year we flew into Seattle and flew out of Vancouver. The flight was the same out of Vancouver, but by the time I was able to book flights the ones going into Vancouver had gone up over $150/person so it was much cheaper to fly into Seattle and spend the night and take Amtrak to Vancouver.

I haven't even checked flights for next year yet, since DH & DD both have to wait to get their vacation approved. For DH that means sometime in Jan. or Feb., and for DD she thinks that might be sometime in Dec.

I'm curious to hear what you thought of the Amtrak trip. We're considering taking the train from Vancouver to Seattle. Do you recall what station you left from and arrived at? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I've been waiting for the 2014 schedule to move our reservation from this cruise to another one and now DH and I are talking about going on this by ourselves for some R & R. All of our other trips we have planned are fairly large groups so it might be nice to get away by ourselves.
