Wonder beds

Yup, the Wonder is the last ship in the fleet with split-able beds.

My oceanview room also offered a sofa bed and a ceiling bed for 4 people wanting to sleep independently.

Well probably just use the sofa bed instead of having the room steward separate the beds. It seems like such a hassle.

I vote to split the bed... sofa bed is less comfortable and at times I wished I had the sofa if there is only 2 in the cabin.

Eep... Does this mean the beds on the Wonder aren't as comfy as the beds on the newer ships? Can you feel the "seam" of the bed if you sleep in the middle?

Until we did our recent Dream/Fantasy cruises, we'd never sailed on a ship that didn't have queen beds that could split into twins (not just DCL).

We've only had 1 bed that we could tell where the "seam" was. And that was because one of the mattresses had been replaced more recently than the other and was higher. We mentioned it to the room steward and the next night they had matching height mattresses on the bed.

Maybe I'm not sensitive enough, but I don't really find much difference between the beds that do split and the ones on the Dream & Fantasy. A bed is a bed to me.

Some people feel that it's just too uncomfortable. You don't know unless you try it.

I like the possibility of split beds. As a single traveler getting a platonic roommate makes it so much easier. And coming back to the room at night, you still have a couch to relax on instead of sitting on someone's "bed."

Hmm, I suppose I just worry because my boyfriend and I are big time snugglers, so we usually sleep towards to middle of the bed. Crossing my fingers it won't be noticeable!

On our previous cruise, they had a piece of foam that went in the middle with a notch on the underside to help fill the gap between the beds. I'm sure I'm not describing it well, but it did a pretty good job of evening out the bed surface. They also had a band that went around the outside of both beds to keep them together so they didn't drift apart.

I'm very glad that the Wonder still has beds that split and hope they still do when I sail with my Mom again Nov 2015. It's also much better for my 2 teenage boys who will be sharing a room in 2 weeks.

We didn't notice the seam in the bed at all on the Wonder. The bed and pillows (which I am very picky about) were wonderful (no pun intended).

I thought I read recently that the Wonder will begin replacing beds in January. My guess is this will mean no more split beds.

Just off the Wonder and the seam wasn't noticeable to us.

I also read the beds were being replaced 1/15 - 4/15.

Hopefully so. I was on a HAL cruise this summer with beds pushed together where supposedly no one felt the seam, but there was a definite divot in the middle of the bed. I'm on the Wonder in 2016 and would LOVE for it to be one mattress.

I read by April but that would make more sense if it was a few of the beds at a time until they all are replaced.

My husband is really really really picky about bed comfort. I guess you can call him a bed snob. He does not at all complain about the beds on the Wonder. He finds them comfortable. That being said we will be on the Wonder in July and it would be nice to have the taller beds for luggage storage purposes, so I hope the beds being replaced this spring is true.

I think you might get your wish (if the reports are true) :goodvibes

I personally prefer the newer beds as coming off the Dream/Fantasy and re-imagined Magic, we could tell the difference in trying to squeeze the suitcases under the bed this week. My new 28 inch suitcase would not fit underneath without getting squished so I just left it out.

I think I've been convinced, though. I called today had them put a note on my reservation to separate the bed for my sister and I.
