We have always sailed on the Magic, never the Wonder. We were orginally going on the Magic this Nov, but due to a schedule conflict we had to change the date. We then found out and booked the west coast cruise for March of next year...can you say HORRAY no air fare :goodvibes:goodvibes So my question is..what are the diffrences between the two ships, and when was the last time the Wonder was in dry dock? I have heard some "not so nice" reports and am a tad concerned. Any thoughts or comments would be welcomed. :lovestruc

Read this tread earlier today! Looks pretty good.

We were also on the wonder in Jan and loved EVERYTHING about it :thumbsup2

Thank you :thumbsup2 I actually had read that thread earlier as well. I was more wondering when the last time Wonder was in dry dock and what the diffrences are :goodvibes And to be honest in the earlier thread they talked about all the new furniture in the adult area..and we haven't even stepped foot in ANY adult area on the ship on any of our cruises..so I wouldn't even know if it was any diffrent :rotfl: but i'm glad that they enjoyed it :lovestruc

We were on the Wonder last October. She had just got out of dry dock the week before and is in wonderful shape. They are always cleaning, painting, varnishing, sweeping; keeping the ship as clean as possible with all of the salt water, wind, etc. So just enjoy the ride!:yay::yay:

The Wonder was in dry dock last September/October. The biggest dofference is now there is an enclosed area over the Cove Cafe and the conference rooms are still on Deck 2. Ariel is in the lobby and the fancy restaurant is called Tritons. That's about it.

I agree. Thats pretty much the extent of the differences. Theres a few name changes, such as the buffet, and characters hanging off the stern, and a difference in decorations, but thats it.The other differences you cant see such as they way that things are piped in the engine rooms, electrical outlet locations in certain spaces, etc.

So, Donald is not on the back end of the Wonder anymore?

I think he meant that the characters are different on the Wonder than the Magic, not that they had changed. I had to read it twice myself!

Thanks, went back myself and read the posts before and the post again. That is what he is saying. Sorry! :surfweb:

I was under the impression the Wonder was going to get "work done" once she gets to CA in Jan. - not sure where I heard this but I know I did.

Donald is still there.

Thats ok.I was in a little rush when I posted that. The Magic still has Goofy, and the Wonder still has Donald and his nephews.Doubt that will ever change.
Both ships are structurally identical.(with the exception of the enclosed outlook on the Wonder) Its the few little things like the art deco/neuavau and the few different names on the rest that sets them apart.Theres also a few minor things I mentioned before that well never see like they way that they run fuel lines, or the placement of outlets in private spaces etc.

Yes.Not long after the Wonder goes to Alaska, shes due for her normally scheduled dry dock.By maritime law, every ship has to be drydocked 2x in a 5 year period for inspections of major systems. It is also used to clean the bottom, running gear, etc, as well as update electronics and anything else that may need to be replaced that would interfere with a normal cruise.

Yes, when she finishes in AK, she will go into dry/wet dock before she heads back to California, so no back to back AK/Repo at the end.

So will this happen before next March? I only ask cause I don't know when she is doing AK. Also do you think the staff on the Wonder will be ok switching to a 7 day format, since they are used to only 3 and 4 day? Not sure if my question is coming out right.. So right now the Wonder only has 1 or 2 "broadway" type of shows..were the Magic has 3 or 4..and the Magic has 7 different menu nights..and the Wonder dosen't...And does the Wonder have pirate night/deck party/fireworks? Does the Wonder have the Stack? And if they don't they must be adding stuff?? LOL :rotfl: it still didnt' come out right did it?? But any answers would be great :goodvibes

Shes scheduled drydock after her last Alaska cruise for drydock.I want to say its scheduled around Sept 6th or so, thru Sept 20th.

The crew should be fine. I think the rotation is set for a 7 day to begin with anyway for the crew.We just dont notice it unless we do a back to back.

The Wonder will most likely be brought up to the Magic in terms of shows, and menus. It will possibly(at least to me) reflect the local foods.
The Wonder has always had the PITCDP.The only thing she doesnt have is the PITC dinner, on her 3 day.

Like I said before, both ships are identical as far as what they carry. The names are different.(Triotons/Lumiere,Beach Blanket Buffet/Topsiders,the Loft/the Stack)The only other difference I know of is that the Magic has 1 additional teen room, where there is a compter setup in the form of the ships bridge, and the Wonder hasnt gotten it.I want to say the same space on the Wonder is a meeting room.
The Magic has the Stack, while the Wonder has the ALoft.Same place on the ship, same basic setup.

When the Wonder is in Los Angeles, she will be doing 7 nights to Mexico. Most likely they already have shows in the works. Remember, she will not be returning to Port Canaveral, either. I think a lot of the crew will like the 7 nights, they get to know the passengers a bit better.

The Wonder leave California for Canada on April 27th, a 6 night repositionong cruise.
