I just read the Personal Navigator and got my answer: Yes, when the temp falls below 75. Thanks for the Personal Navigator!

You're so welcome, Scott! That is why I created the Personal Navigator for our trip, to help give everyone answers to some DCL policies as well as hopefully increase everyone's enjoyment! I have had some great mentors on other sailings to guide me in publishing this. I am making the final adjustments to our Alaska Navigator to be published on the Facebook page at the end of this week. We are going to have a rocking time aboard!

In July they were in the 80's. DCL announces the temp of the pools on the tv. The pools were not crowded, but many took advantage of the blankets they make available in the towel cabinets. Also the spiked coffee and hot chocolate drinks offered in the Cove and LookOut.
I'm getting into the spiked coffee and hot chocolate drinks idea. I see a reason to have a rocking secret deck seven party... :lmao::cool1::thumbsup2

Sounds like a plan to me. Perhaps the Tracy Arm day? We could bring carafes, from room service, with coffee and hot chocolate and then anything else you want to add.

I cannot believe that we head to Vancouver just two weeks from tomorrow! We may have an adjustment as my mom, who is the whole reason we are taking this trip (to celebrate her 70th birthday in Sept.) fell today on her newly replaced knee. She sees the doctor next week but she really is wondering if she will be able to go. :( Any prayers you could send our way would be appreciated.

~Ellen

Hey, sugar, how's your mom doing???

I love that idea! It would be fun to have people from this DISboards group and the Facebook group get together on Tracy Arm day on secret deck seven-- what time is good, anyone?? :drinking1

pixiedust:Some very strange gremlins are getting into the Alaska Facebook page today. A number of people were blocked from using it, and I was deleted, also, as well as my admin status and the admin status of Tracy. Facebook is looking into the matter.

For those who are traveling from afar this week and weekend, safe travels and see you aboard!!!!pixiedust:

Hey, sugar, how's your mom doing???

You are so sweet for asking! She actually went to the orthopedic this morning and thankfully nothing is broken. She does have some severe bruising in her hip and arm so they have prescribed ultrasound therapy for that. I think that she will end up going though she won't be running anywhere! She is planning on seeing if she is feeling up to traveling next week before she makes a final decision. Honestly, I think the best thing for her would be the trip. She has been very depressed since the knee replacement in June, I think a change of scenery would work wonders for her.

Thinking of her and crossing my fingers!!:grouphug:

We were on the Alaskan cruise on the Wonder August 5 -12 and I was wondering if someone would be able to pick up the Alaskan Ball ornament for me? I went to purchase it on our last sea day to find out they were sold out for our cruise. Normally I would just do without but we were married on the trip and it would mean a lot for me to have one for our tree. If you are willing to pick it up I can send you the money for the ornament and the shipping costs. Thanks!

Beth

Just PM'd you. Glad to help out!

Hi! I'm late to post anything at all - weren't sure we were even going to get a chance to go, but now that everything is set in motion, I had to read through everything yesterday to get a lay of the land and sea! I'm not sure what number of cruise this is with Disney - we've done several of the DVC cruises and three others on NCL. We're celebrating our 30th anniversary a little early (the actual day is September 30) and it will be our first time to Alaska, doing a more than 4 day cruise with Disney and a Back to Back as well! Thanks for all the information everyone has posted - especially the Personal Navigator that someone(s) had to have spent hours on! Sorry to miss out on all the FE fun, but will keep a look out for the frequent posters and the B2B'ers out there! Not much longer now! Kristi :cheer2:

Thanks for letting us know. You must be so upset, but don't be, they'll find you a cabin, maybe much better then you expected. Did you get your cruise docs from DCL? If you so, the luggage tags don't have your cabin number on it but it does have a bar code that is linked to your reservation so no matter when they assign you a cabin the info will be available to the guys deliverying your luggage to your great cabin.

Is this your first DCL cruise?

I noticed that, in looking at the DCL Personal Navigators from this summer's Alaska cruises (which should be strikingly similar to ours, except for the movie listings) that Disney's justly famous tastings classes-- mixology, martini, chocolates and champagne, mojito, tequila/marguita, rum, whiskeys--- will be offered the first at-sea day and the last at-sea day. THey are an amazingly low-cost ($20 for about 5 cocktails) and super fun over 21 class (and you learn a LOT!) held in the afternoons from about 1 until 5, each an hour or so.
Watch for them in your Navigator. :drinking1
It's a great way to continue your enjoyment of being with each other; if fact, on the longer 14 day cruises, often the DISboards group will ask for their own mixology or "Champagne Girls" class!!!! (Not this cruise though)

BE FOREWARNED though-- these classes and offerings by DCL fill quite quickly, so if you have an interest, see the Guest Services or call down to them on Monday just before or after we sail! :dance3:
