Morning everyone,

We have decided as part of our two week holiday in may 06 to go on the wonder 3 day bahamian cruise. With DD5 AND DS2 figured we could have some alone time whilst they are at kids club and escape Orlando for the busy memorial weekend.
Have looked at the cruise forum but would realy appreciate any opinions from a fellow UK Diser...Particular questions are..

Never been on a cruise before, is motion sickness likely to be a problem?? Not realy sure how we will fare as very ill once on a ferry to Ireland but i know thats different waters!!

What sort of weather can we expect, is it hot or breezy at sea??

Anyone stayed in one of the secret porthole cat 10 rooms?

Everyone seems to rave about these cruises so would be realy gratefull for your feedback, Rachael :cheer2:

Hi Rachael

I've been on 2 Disney cruises, a 7 night in May and a 4 night cruise in December (not the same year!).

The weather will probably be both hot and breezy. It's lovely up on the top decks where the breeze keeps the heat down. May is one of my favourite times to go to Florida, not too hot but certainly not cold.

I didn't have any problems with motion sickness although Tam felt ill when she got off the boat when it stopped! Go figure.
There is not a huge ammount of movement on the ship unless you are unlucky enough to meet rough seas, this is not likely in May.

We stayed in a cat 6 with a balcony for the 7 night and a cat 10 (not secret porthole) for the 4 night. I loved having a balcony, but was surprised how little I missed it the second time we went on the 4 night.

If you want to read what I thought about both our cruises, take a look at http://freespace.virgin.net/kevin.stringer/index.htm
Look at May 2003 and December 2004.

Hi Rachel, Well we are going on our first disney cruise on may 19th. We wil be staying in cabin 5522 which is a SPC on deck 5 we were really lucky to get one of these cabins and booked 14 months ago.
We looked around and got quotes and the best one we got was with all seasons travel in the US Due to the pound being so strong we got a really good deal I think we paid about £750 for the 4 of us when you match it say with Virgin they were charging about £1,400 for a cat 12, big difference.
Anyway if you haven;t already check out the cruise forum you will get lot's of good advice on them, Also if you contact all seas they will give you a quote, we have been dealing with a lady called Sandi who couldn't be more helpfull, they are our equivalent to abta bonded etc and they are very helpfull.
(Say hi from Tracey) :goodvibes
Anyway if I can help anymore please let me know and we will be able to answer your questions when we get back

We did this cruise in Dec. with DD (5). Remember that your youngest will have to go to the creche, so you will have to pay & will only be guaranteed 3 sessions. None of us suffered with motion sickness & we hit some pretty rough weather (almost couldn't dock in CC), although I felt more wobbly back on land & that took a few hours to wear off. WE also removed the coat hangers as they were rattling around the wardrobes. We were in room 6633 & it was adequate for us as we spent very little time in there. We are now booked for a 7 night next year as we had such a good time. THe shows were excellent & if we didn't insist DD ate dinner with us, we wouldn't have known that we were on holiday with her! I would recommend it & we picked this as a taster. We did the bridge tour & apparantly the fins attached to the hull reduce the rocking movement by 90%. I took seabands anyway, but didn't need them & I would say if you're susceptible do not sit at dinner looking out the porthole - watching the horizon rise & fall is a sure way to feel rough!

:cheer2: I have done the 4 day cruise twice and in aug we are doing the 3 day cruise.

As someone who gets car sick I was worried about motion sickness, but it has never been a problem.

I love the cruise, its the best part of our holiday.

Food is out of this world.

We have stayed in cat 10, but never with porthole. To be honest we spend so little time in room it just did not seem worth it.

hope this helps.
Feel free to ask me any questions ! :smooth:

Wondering what people were meaning regarding creche and lack of children?
Is that because they are not allowed in certain areas or because kids clubs keep them well entertain. Sorry if this is obvious, but it got me confused :confused3

Hi we don't have any children.
As far as I understand it you don't need a creche because the kids clubs keep them so entertained. Parents are given a bleeper when they enterkids.

Kids club (Oceaneer's club/lab) is for children who are toilet trained. It costs nothing & keeps them very well entertained with games, arts & crafts, cooking, character meet & greets etc. We dropped off DD after b/fast (about 0930) & collected her at 1800 for dinner, although she could have stayed & eaten there (as she had done for lunch). She then wanted to return & we collected her after the show although she could have stayed until mid night. AT about 2100 they put out sleep mats & stick on Disney films. If your child is not toilet trained, they have to go to the creche (Flounder's reef) which you pay for & are only guaranteed three sessions because the helper: child ratio is obviously much lower. I'm afraid that is all I can tell you about it as we didn't use it. Any other questions, feel free to ask
