Women's figure skating - short program - SPOILERS

I was too tired to stay up and watch Sasha's skate (I wish they didn't keep it on so late!) But I did see Irina's, and I, too, don't understand how she got so far ahead so quickly. I thought her jumps were great, but there was no artistry at all. It was like she just skated from one side of the ice to the other only to pick up speed for jumps.

I hated the pants, too! From far away, it looked like a men's skate!

I am sorry but I missed Michelle Kwan so much. I was so sad she dropped out. Sahsa is very elegant isn't she?

Looks like I may have to break down and tape the long program (sure as heck can't stay awake at night to watch it - LOL).. To this point I haven't watched any of it at all, but I do love the ladies figure skating..

Can anyone tell me when it will be on - here on the east coast?

Thanks! :)

Rooting for the hometown girl Kimmie here!! Thought she skated a great performance!! Go Kimmie :cheer2:

I was disappointed to see Kimmie fall to 5th. I thought she deserved 4th over the Japanese skater that currently holds that position.

I noticed some of you watched this earlier in the day yesterday. I didn't see it until the evening on NBC. Were you watching a different channel? Will it be on earlier on Thursday? Or will it just be the one time on Thursday night that the announcers mentioned? Sorry, I find the whole olympics schedule very confusing.

I only saw a few skaters last night starting with Emily Hughes. I didn't think she was that great. Her routine was boring to me. I really liked the Russian girl who is now in second place. I thought she was fantastic, but I did think Sasha Cohen was even better. Did they have some previous points that were being added to yesterday? I thought it was strange that the one Italian girl who fell still placed so high (10th I think).

Canada shows the Olympics live, all day.

I think they were all Canadian Beth. They can watch stuff on Canadian channels and then on American channels.

Ah, OK. So for us, the rest of the women's figure skating is on Thursday evening right?

Surly: My bad. I thought the finale was going to be live.

It would be exciting, but sadly, this competition has been signed sealed and delivered. I even read a spoiler about who won, although I obviously won't share that! :)

It makes sense, too....John Nicks was working day and night with Sasha Cohen and would not have taken the time to attend the taping of the show even in the weeks leading up to the Olympics. And having a live show after everything else was taped earlier would be strange too, considering the participants would have to keep training or get cold and out of shape for a few months.

Yeap, NBC has it listed starting at 7pm.

I was surprised at how skimpy some of the outfits were (the one italian girl in the black and white was really revealing), and the jury for me is still out on women wearing pants. I kind of like classic skater garb. I am really looking forward to the long program.

Most skaters wear illusion fabric, so a lot of times when it looks like it's skin, it's really skin color illusion fabric to create the illusion to be skimpy.
