My Mom died in May. At the encouragement of my sister, I tried to take her 'Fall' clothes in today to sell them. Mom had beautiful clothes and a lot of them. They were mostly expensive and current styles. They took about 12 pieces out of maybe 75. I was shocked. So, we went to another store that's not known to be so high-end. They took nothing. As painfull as it was to sort through Mom's clothes and then take them to a store to be sold, it just wasn't worth the time and effort. My sister doesn't want me to take them to Goodwill but I think we've been cherry picked and the rest might as well go there. It just felt tacky taking my dead mother's clothes in to these places in the first place. I told my sister that if she didn't want them given away they were her problem. Am I wrong?

Good heavens! I can't imagine anything more painful than sorting thru my deceased Mother's clothing to sell!!! I'm with you, if your sister is up to the task, let HER be in charge of selling the clothing. Otherwise, do yourself a favor and donate to a favorite charity. My sister and I have been slowly dealing with my Mother's things for a few years now. First it was clothes, then some jewelry (though Mom had given away what good jewelry and art items that she had prior to her death). There's a few odd ends stored in my sister's basement that we have to go thru--but it's really difficult but getting easier as time goes by.

Good luck:hug:

Why not donate to a women's center where they are helping ladies find jobs. They always need nice clothes for interviews. Otherwise, I commend you for doing it but if sis doesn't like it, then let her deal. I have my Dad's suit up in my closet and I couldn't give it back to my mom. She threw most of his clothes away.

I second this idea. This is what we did when my mom passed away almost 20 years ago. Those ladies will really appreciate your donation.:goodvibes

First -- I am very sorry for your loss.

Just my two cents worth -- I third the idea of giving the clothes to a program that helps women find jobs. I used to work in employment & training services & there are MANY women out there who can't afford a decent interview outfit or even a couple of outfits to get them started in a new job. It shouldn't matter -- but nice clothes do make us feel better! If you don't know where to find a program, contact your local "unemployment" office. (that's what most people still call it even though they help EVERYONE get & keep jobs!) Good luck with whatever you decide to do.
