Woman who fell into a fountain while texting

Did anybody catch Anderson Cooper's take on this last night? I've never seen him so snarky, I woke up the entire house laughing my butt off. Here's the video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ze0OuDq9keM

I think Anderson's right. She was entirely unidentifiable until she identified herself. I can't imagine there's a lawsuit in this at all.

:thumbsup2 That was great. I love Anderson, he has no tolerance for stupidity.

That woman is nuts. "Noone helped me." It was less than 3 seconds..she was up and obviosly fine before people even realized what happened, if anyone even saw her. " I could've been hit by a bus.":confused3 What?? Stop going on TV and let it go. If that had happened to me, I would've embraced the ridiculousness and gotten the best story EVER to tell at parties. Lighten up lady.

She a nut job, she just purely out for money.

Oh no...she's not a nut job, she was texting her friend FROM CHURCH!!! :rotfl2:

The "FROM CHURCH" part just drives me crazy because she had to make sure to get it in every interview I have seen of her. Because we should laugh at her because she has a friend FROM CHURCH and if you are making fun of her you are making fun of CHURCH. :confused3

I'm thinking she was probably familiar with the mall (someone might have even said she worked at the mall), it's supposedly a small mall, that is a very big fountain and she wasn't even close to either side where she would be going around it. You just can't fix stupid!

What's really scary is that people do this every day while driving!

FOR SECURITY...not first aid...they aren't called "Assistance Guards".

While I think she had no legal leg to stand on, the security guard who allowed his friend INTO security and to tape the fall should be fired.

It could have been much worse. Many years ago I worked at a University. I became friends with one of the secuty guards who explained that one of the female lecturers was very rude to the security staff. One day she had sex with one of the male students in a computer room which unfortunatly for her had security cameras in it. This video was seen by security and she was oh so polite to them afterwards.

:lmao:

I saw the video. WTH is she raving about:confused3 It is her own fault she fell into the fountain and right after she got out and walked over to the side of the hallway I saw a janitor(if malls still call them that) come over and talk to her, I'm guessing he at least heard the fall considering he had moving in the opposite direction from her when she walked in. I'm sure he asked her what happened and if she needed assistance. Bet she went "Nope, just dry clothes" and probably went and bought em.

Of course you tell they used another video camera to tape it off of security footage, so I definitely agree whoever did it needs a Come to Jesus talk and suspension or firing depending policies. But I couldn't tell what mall it was or who she was, she was monochromatic woman to me.

Like the saying goes "Ya can't fix stupid"

Nothing like a little blackmail ammo to cure people's attitudes :lmao:

I'd like to read the "Complaint" to see her allegations.
Personally, she should be laughing at her own silliness....I mean watch where you are walking. And theres an APP for that ;)
If the security "people" released the tape, the individuals/corp could be sued for its release/invasion of privacy????, but she was in a public place, and she caused it, so Don't get me on that jury........$0. Award and I'd have her pay the court costs! :rotfl2:

Glad she was not hurt...physically, that is! :wizard:

I think Anderson just enjoys calling her "Fountain Lady". Very funny.

"I don't want to go all Nancy Grace on you...." :happytv:

Is there an expectation of privacy as you walk through a very public mall?

A very good question. As others have said, the person (Cathy Cruz Marrero) who fell into the water is just upset that she made herself into a fool and the whole world knows it.

And she totally identified herself. The video might as well have had her face blurred out.

Shes lucky I didnt push her in the fountain. Idiot. Shes a theif and I hope if she gets any settlement it goes right to the people she ripped off. And I must point out if you work in the mall YOU KNOW THERE IS A HUGE FOUNTAIN THERE. It isnt like they just installed the fountain and it was a surprise.

You don't get to profit for being an idiot. Sorry. Thats on you. I think if anything it should be used as a public service announcement for teens. Maybe she can profit that way somehow.

I agree she identified herself to the world. Only the other mall employees MIGHT have recognized her, and prob not.

Ding ding ding.

Me too, I have less tolerance with it's couple with greediness.

1) Stop texting and pay attention to where you're going
2) if you're going to be a thief can you at least pretend you're smart enough to not go on national tv and whine. Isn't one of the objectives when you are a criminal is to not get caught? :rolleyes1
3) now not only have your coworkers had a good laugh at your expense, now they can't trust you because they know you are a thief. Nice

I don't understand the "noone helped me" line. If you watch later in the video, it looks like several people checked on her. It appears she wanders around a bit (still texting) and at the bottom left hand corner of the screen she meets up with two people. Sorry Fountain Lady...law suits just don't fix stupid.

I hope someone's told her there's another fountain at the other end of the mall or this could happen again!

Actually, I think she has a point. She isn't suing because it is "dangerous" or she thinks they are responsible for her fall. She is suing about the invasion of privacy that occurred when the security camera footage of her fall was made public--for clearly no reason other than to laugh at her. I am not sure if that is really illegal, but it sure as heck is not professional or in good taste.

There is no right to provacy when you are out in public. Ask the papparazzi. The mall can do whatever it wants with security camera images. She walked into their world. There is no assumption of privacy.

She should just be lucky this one had water in it. I worked for 4 years, during college, in the Berkshire Mall, and I can count on my fingers how often that fountain had water in it. Maybe they keep it filled more often, now, but 10 years ago, or so, it was rarely filled.

One thing I don't get, and forgive me if this was mentioned before, but if she did not say anything the whole thing would have gone away in a few days. You can't make out who the person is in the video. It is just a blurry figure in dark clothing. Nobody would have known it was her if she didn't come forward.:confused3

Right?
