Update - I modified the thread title so it wouldn't be misleading.

Local news just came on with a breaking news story. A woman died tonight on Mission Space. No other news available at this time. The ride has been shut down for investigation. I'm sure they will find the woman had some type of unknown condition. So sad.

Oh no, my sister is there with her DH and kids. I'm sure she's fine, she's in the military and has frequent physicals, etc.

:sad2: How sad. I'm sure they will reveal more information later tonight or tomorrow morning

May she rest in peace... I'm so sorry to hear this :sad1:

The woman was 49 years old and was taken to Celebration hospital. I'm sure they did not pronounce her death until they reached the hospital.

Wow. How terrible and tragic. :sad2:

I wish people would read the signs and listen to the advice. We saw someone collapse at the AS-Mo. Ambulances needed and all. I think too many out of shape people ebd up taking vacations there and don't realize how physically taxing it is- up early, walking all day, off regular schedule and diet, etc. Not to mention keeping hydrated. It's really not a good vacation spot for unknown ailments or being really badly out of shape... it's a shock to the system. Unfortunately, a shock a lot of people have to deal with while on vacation.

Yes the magic Disney line. Once you're off property you can be pronounced dead.... but not until then.

that's a shame :sad2:
my thoughts are with the family :grouphug:

Is that true or are you being sarcastic?

It's so sad. :sad1:

That's entirely true. No one has ever been pronounced dead on Disney property. No one.

I have no doubts there have been a number that have been dead when EMTs arrived. But the actual pronouncement is done off Disney property. It seems like adding insult to injury to me for the already distraught and devestated families. Personally, I would like to know that the time of pronouncement is accurate.... for more than anything, to provide what little closure there can be.

Wow I really didn't know that. Yeah it does seem a little strange. I would also want to know the accurate time as well. I guess they're just trying to preserve the magic.

Begs the question (in no way directed at you): How can you preserve anything except the trauma and shock?

How sad.

I think that ride needs stronger warnings. They post the same warnings on rides that are less stressful on your system. I think it makes people not take them as seriously.
