I am going to take another one and put my sunglasses on (don't have on any makeup  ) to go get the kiddos from school.
A baseball cap and sunglasses are a DISer's best friends!

Honestly, I'm considering buying DS10 a laptop for Christmas. He keeps trying to kick me off of here--he's just as addicted to VMK as I am to the DIS. What a monster I've created. :sad2:

Haha...my DH created the monster in me by buying my laptop. He told me to start planning a trip to WDW.

Well you know the rest of the story. :thumbsup2

:grouphug:

Just read my tags...I'm certifiably addicted.

arkansas mom...uh, well...

1. Do you lose time from work due to DISing? Ya mean this isn't work?

2. Have you ever felt remorse after DISing? Remorse? Can I take the 5th on that one?

3. Have you ever gotten into financial trouble as a result of DISing? Can anyone say...silverjewelry club...whatta bargain!

4. Do you turn to lower companions and an inferior environment when DISing?Monkey Boy? Isn't he a highly evolved DISser?

5. Does your DISing make you careless of your family's welfare? Um, dinner sometimes isn't always on time if there's a hot thread.

6. Has your ambition decreased since DISing? No, it just reminds me of college...Flinstones were so much better than English Comp class.

7. Does DISing cause you to have difficulty in sleeping? Sleeping...no trouble as long as I can do it on my time schedule, which is when I'm done DISsing.

8. Do you DIS alone?
Of course not. I DIS with thousands of friends. Right you are arkansas mom! And howdy friend!

9. Do you have more DIS friends than real life freinds? Very few 'real life friends' get the whole Disney thing...poor souls!

10. Have you ever been to a hospital or institution on account of DISing?
No, but if you know of one that specializes in DISing, let me know. I'm sure that place would be a hoot. What a great place for a DIS meet! Amen, arkansas mom! I bet the therapy room has high speed connection!

Now, that said...I'm working on the addiction...I have forbidden myself to read today's Good Morning thread. :rolleyes1

Are You an Internet Addict?

I was reading through an AFP report on Yahoo! News that says Serbia is now treating people with Internet addictions. This counseling center considers anyone who is not interested in daily activities with family and friends as a potential Internet addict and looks for other signs such as spending prolonged hours online, turning to virtual friends, and isolation. I'm not sure exactly how they treat Internet addiction, but they say treatment usually lasts one year.

After reading this, I headed over to Net Addiction and took an Internet Addiction Test (IAT) that told me my Internet usage is causing occasional problems in my life. I won't take that test too seriously because my occupation requires me to be online a lot of the time. However, I will keep that in mind next time I choose surfing the web over, er, household chores. Can you blame me?

Internet addiction can be harmful for those who delve into the darker side of the web, such as online gambling, cybersex, online affairs, and online gaming. But how do you know when you or someone you love is addicted to the Internet? When is it time to pull the plug and seek treatment?

Here's a list of common symptoms to watch out for:

1. Lying about how much time is spent online.
2. General decrease of physical activity and social life.
3. Neglecting obligations at home, work, or school to spend time online.
4. Spending too much money on computer equipment or Internet activities.
5. Feeling a constant desire to be online when they're away from the computer.
6. Going online to escape real world problems.
7. Disregarding the emotional or physical consequences of being in front of a computer all day.
8. Denial of the problem.

There is much debate about the reality of Internet addiction. The bottom line is that anything can be harmful when abused. If you find yourself spending more time online than with real people, then plan for some quality time with the family or friends every other day. Find an activity the whole family enjoys and make a date with them.

I personally disconnect completely every weekend and get out of the house so I'm not tempted to check email. I also have movie nights and "Lost" nights during the week, which are a great excuse to turn off the computer. Different things work for different people, so just find something you enjoy and don't hesitate to shut the computer off.

What do you do to escape cyberspace?

:grouphug: to momsgoofy and littleblue!

I didn't realize our addiction was so serious that we may need treatment!

Are we going to cut our DSL lines or something? :badpc:

DH may have me commited if it comes to that point.

1. Do you lose time from work due to DISing?

4. Do you turn to lower companions and an inferior environment when DISing?

6. Has your ambition decreased since DISing?
I am very ambitious in my pursuit of finding out Ty's secret

7. Does DISing cause you to have difficulty in sleeping?
Sleep? Who can sleep?

8. Do you DIS alone?
Of course not. I DIS with thousands of friends.

9. Do you have more DIS friends than real life friends?
are you implying there are people other than my family that I can actually interact with face to face? Wow!

10. Have you ever been to a hospital or institution on account of DISing?
not yet

I have to cut myself off for a little while. I simply have to go to the grocery store for a few staples. And maybe do a couple of things to make it appear that I was productive today. But you know I'll be back!

I'm finally back on. DH was hogging the computer all afternoon & just left to pick up KFC. I did my part, I stacked some dishes & napkins on the table :teeth:

My dh joked about blocking this site, but he then he wisely said, 'you'd probably divorce me wouldn't you?'. I just smiled and nodded my head. :teeth: My dh would be the one committed.

I think we should embrace our addiction. :grouphug: I think it's theraputic--beng addicted to the DIS that is. So maybe the help we seek shouldn't be help in breaking the addiction, but help in managing our lives while we immerse ourselves in the DIS!

Cut the DSL?? DH bought my laptop for me after I was hogging the desktop and we still only had dial up..ugh! Actually, DH...and DS would have worse cases of withdrawl if the DSL was ever to go down.

arkansas mom...I've fallen off the wagon big time tonight. I've read Mister Ty's Good Morning threads on like 5 boards since I've gotten back on the DIS tonight. :guilty:

Hi fellow addicts!!!

Being addicted tonight has paid off! :woohoo: :woohoo:

I got tagged by the Tag Fairy!!

It certainly rewards behavior.

Of course, TF makes me look a little , but who cares!

But then, maybe I am  after all.

My family may disagree, but the DISboards & planning my next vacation is what keeps me sane. ;)
