WOC with no FP

Is it possible to watch WOC without a fastpass? We arrive around 4pm on Tuesday and would like to see it that night if possible. Are we out of luck? I don't want to eat at Ariel's Grotto (we're doing that a different day to dine with the princesses) or get a picnic lunch either. If we have to, we'll get a FP another day, it's just not as convenient for us to catch it other days...so just wondering!

Yes. But you can't get into the FP areas. You can still watch it over the bridge towards the left side. I did this on our First Day (arrived late afternoon). You will miss most of the projections (though I saw some) and will not get the most impact of the show.

You might still be able to get a free FP at 4. If not, I'd wait until a different day. Not seeing it from the designated viewing area is just setting yourself up for disappointment.

You will have a better than not chance of still getting a WoC Show Pass.

Sometimes when it's slow, which it may be. They let extra people into the western edge of the Red Zone(which is currently being called Yellow due to construction in the area) This has happened often on poor weather days when all Show Passes were not distributed.

I will second the recommendation to catch it from an FP viewing area at least once. The dinner locations also rock.

Heck we had passes and couldn't get into blue viewing area 10 mins before show time when we were there. It was a Thursday & there was only one show that night. We were told to stand on the bridge to watch and got an "okay" view but learned the lesson to get there early.

I just wanted to say thanks for posting this for others to read! I'm sorry that was your experience, but so many visitors to the boards read our advice about showing up early and think we're just being fanatical and exaggerating. The truth really is if you want that good spot, you have to be prepared to show up and wait for it!

I have a question about the bridge on the left side of the map in the original post about good viewing spots. Is that bridge part of the blue area that can only be accessed with a Show Pass or is it open viewing for anyone? I ask because a post made earlier this evening implied that they were sent to the bridge because the blue section was full even though the poster had a pass, but the map here makes the bridge look like part of the blue section, so it really wasn't full if that's the case. Do they actually turn people away who have Show Passes?

The bridge IS supposed to be part of the blue section. I'm not sure where specifically that poster was referring to, but if they got to watch from the blue section on the bridge without a pass, then it is not part of standard procedure.

Yes. If the area is full, as was in my case, they will turn you away. They can't make room, where there is none.

As for if this area is limited to blue FP area or not, I can't say for sure. They didn't take my FP. And it appeared that anyone could go in that area.

I would agree with the others to try to get a Fastpass for WoC, particularly if you haven't seen it before.

If you've seen it before and don't want to deal with the hassle, you can get a pleasant, if not amazing, experience on the "wrong" side. You'll miss a lot of the show (mostly the projections) but I personally prefer it to waiting for a couple hours and being shoved and encroached on during the show. Again, the view is not anywhere near as good as seeing it the way it's meant to be seen, so you definitely do want to see it the right way at some point. But watching from the wrong side is relaxing and won't take up a large portion of your evening.

I would at least try to get the FastPasses, no matter what time of day you arrive, you never know, they might still have tickets available. If they are not busy, you can also stand in front of the Little Mermaid ride, there are a couple lampposts in the way, but since it is right behind the yellow section you still get a good view.

World of Color is full every night. During slow periods they only have one show, which means that everyone who wants to see the show has to go to the one show.

WOC only gives out a set number of passes, so it is equally crowded on busy holiday weekends as it is on non-busy weekdays. Once all the tickets are gone, that's all the people that are allowed into the area. When you go doesn't really affect the crowds.

If a particular night is not busy and has multiple shows, the second show MIGHT not be as crowded as the first. In a slow time Fastpasses might be available for a longer period, too.

But in general, the crowds are the same regardless of how busy the parks are, since most slow nights will only have 1 show, and that show will definitely fill up.

The only real way to avoid the crowds for distribution, pre-show queuing and the still being in "cattle class" for viewing the show is through the dinner packages. We have done this on several instances, and had dinner right before the show, then walked over to the reserved section, just before the show and had good viewing without having to wait in lines, and that section seems to be less packed in.
