WOC w/out Fastpass?

Am I crazy to try to see World of Color without a Fastpass? We're arriving around dinner time on the 15th, and I'd love to grab something to eat and catch WOC if we can, what better way to start the trip? Trouble is, I'm sure all the Fastpasses will be gone, so would we even be able to get in? There are shows at 9:15 and 10 p.m., but I'm hoping to see the earlier one so we can get some sleep to hit the parks for the next four days! Is it even worth trying? I'd need to add an extra day of tickets to do it, so I don't want to waste the money if we won't get in.

It's possible, not likely but possible they will still have some Show Tickets left into the early evening. If you are worried you can order a WoC picnic online, this would solve two problems of yours at once.

If you don't have Show Tickets you will get a mediocre to poor view. To get a great view you view from in Paradise Park against a railing or other spot where nobody is standing directly in front of you.

Read the first page and last few pages of the WoC Superthread for strategies.

In my experience, the tickets are either sold out or are stopped being distributed by the later afternoon sometime. Whenever I've wandered past the FP distribution location at around 5-530 pm, it's never open.

If you can't get the FPs or reserved dining ticket somehow (through the picnics or seated dinners), the best place to see the show is at the railing right next to AG on the PP bridge. The view there rivals any FP spot, honestly :thumbsup2 You just need to make sure you get there early enough to grab a railing spot because I've experienced ALOT of extremely rude, entitled people who come to the show a few minutes before starting and will shove you to the side/ground for a better view. I understand and completely agree with the children being given priority to see the show, but adults, not so much. Clearly not everyone is like this, but get there early and stake your claim!! :goodvibes

There is also the Cove Bar if you would like some dinner/adult beverages prior to World of Color. Be aware there is a cover charge for staying at the Cove Bar during World of Color. I did it once with DH, but I had seen WOC before. So it was fun to see a different angle. At the Cove Bar you are seeing it from an extreme side view. It was still enjoyable and better than not seeing WOC at all. Be advised they do have last call about 30 minutes before WOC begins, so sit down well before the show.

Some pics of what your view would look like:

As discussed in the OP of the WOC Superthread, when we visited in August the WOC CMs told me that they were not distributing sll the FPs each night when there were two shows.

ArchOwl, how much was the cover? Can kids be in the bar area but not at the bar? Are there tables?

Looks like some PPH guests also get a very nice view.

last week,on a Sunday we got there around 9:30 a.m.- got tix for the red section (great view) and I noticed they still had them for the early show well into the evening. at least 7 p.m. or so- so....I was glad I didn't rush or stress overmuch about it.:thumbsup2

Well, maybe I will give it a try and see if there are still Fastpasses available. I was hoping things have calmed down since opening and there won't be so many locals.
Hydroguy, thanks so much for the awesome threads! They are all so helpful. I checked out the WOC master one, but was hoping for some more recent info, which is just what everyone gave me! Thanks guys!

Well, the info is from about 6 weeks ago. Pretty recent. But I agree it is better if you can get it from someone there last week.

The cover is $10 per person, which is kinda steep, but it was enjoyable. I am not sure about kids, but I am thinking kids would be fine. I have been in numerous bars on property at DL and kids have been there. There are tables, but we got up and walked over to the rail during the show.

When we were there in August, the parks were pretty crowded, and they still had FPs left for the 10:15 show past 8:00 p.m. However, if you want to be guaranteed a FP and have one for the earlier show, you might want to order a picnic meal. I am 99% certain (someone correct me if I am wrong here) that if you order a picnic meal online ahead of time, you will always get a FP for the earlier show. (Whereas if you walk up and buy one, you don't know which show you'll get.) Know that even if you get an FP, you are not guaranteed to get a decent view without a long wait - and as it turns out, not even then. My theory is if you *really* care about the show and getting a great view, and this is your only opportunity to see it, then you should probably reserve yourself a FP with a picnic or WOC dining package, and be prepared to invest the time it takes to save yourself a great viewing spot. Otherwise, sure, you can still see the show without an FP - just not as good a view of it.

Have a fun trip! :)

We saw it last Friday night twice. We picked up fast passes at 5pm for the 10:15pm show and had the blue section and couldn't see that well. At 9:15pm we watched the show from the left of the Ferris Wheel and could honestly see better than when we were in the blue section. Although the pictures are backwards... lol.

Thanks! The $50 sounds worth not having the 45 minute wait! I might have to give this a go.

I think in front of the Little Mermaid is a walk-up section for those without FPs. At least it was when I was there in September. I wonder if anyone has stood there and can tell us what the view is like? That might be an option that is less expensive.

Keep in mind you will pay $50+, save a long wait, but get a poor view. Do you want to see the show, or want to see the show?

Viewing at the edges of Paradise Park is a better view than the cove bar. But still worse than being in the park itself. I would call these places, the bridge to AG and near the Golden Zephyr attraction are ok last minute spots when you didn't get Show tickets.

Viewing from behind Paradise Park near LMAUA is a pretty good alternative, better than the others. But is obstructed by trees, people walking and some Paradise Park viewers. It helps if you are tall, and not for children.

If you want a good view, get a show ticket and watch from Paradise Park. If you want a great view, do this from a rail or top stair spot in the park.

We were there in September and did not get WOC FP. We stood at the stone wall right next to the Golden Zephar swing and were able to see the show just fine. Then about 10 minutes into the show (there was only one showing that night) they took down the barriers at the back of the viewing area and we were able to stand there and see even better. It worked out great for us because our DS6 hates standing around waiting. We basically walked up the wall about 10 minutes before the show started and had a good view.
