Is there a view of WOC from any point/room in the Grand Californian Villas? If not, what is best view to ask for?

We were at the far end of the corridor on the second floor and had a pretty decent view of WOC. There is also an outdoor observation area on the top floor of VGC.

We too are staying at the Villas and although are not guaranteed a view of WOC I wonder how good the observation area is? I suppose if my son cannot handle the crowds this might be a good option? Any input?

We stayed in a 2 bedroom villa on our first trip that faced into the park and one night they were testing for WOC and we got to see the whole thing. It was amazing and we could feel the fire as well. So if you get a theme park view on the upper levels to see over the trees you could have a view. I know there is a thread but under GCV that shows which rooms are the best.

This was from our 1 bedroom.

You can't beat that view! It's amazing if you don't want to go out in the crowds. Great shot Jack!

I have had good results making a request using a list of room numbers :wizard:
Floorplans and details of how to make a request are in this thread:

The view from the 6th floor patio is similar to the views from the villas, but angle is slightly worse. The patio is seldom crowded, and often empty for later shows.

There is an observation deck available only to DVC members. I saw WoC from it two years ago. The view was unique, but on an angle. I wouldn't recommend it for the first time seeing the show; a subsequent viewing would make it interesting though.

We were in a 1BR on the 4th floor. The tree was a little bit on the way, but the view is nice. Since we checked out Friday and WoC was only running weekends when we were there, we didn't get a chance to watch it from the room. However, I think the view from PPH is better. I will post pics when I can.

I understand the interest in avoiding the crowds, but for the most part the views of WoC from the VGC are not that good. You're missing all of the projections on the water screens and the proximity to the show. Unless you're agoraphobic I'd make the effort to get to the show early, bring a blanket to sit on, send someone off for goodies and just wait. I've seen the show from the viewing deck at the VGC and from the show itself and there is no comparison.

There are two meal packages that get you WoC FPs so that you don't have to get there first thing in the morning. There's a dinner package which is pricey but gets you standing area right down in front. (Assuming you get there early enough to claim your spot.) There's also a picnic package, which is about $15, and includes a good viewing spot. However, if you don't get there early enough to claim a good spot within your viewing area, it is still a problem. Some of the show is right down on the water, but much of the show is up in the air and any viewing spot that is in the FP area will be fine. Unfortunately, side views just don't give you the same effects.
