WOC - to picnic or not?

I'm finalizing my plans for my trip in a little over a week. I will be at DLR on Mon Jun 18 and Tues Jun 19; however, I only have one evening in the parks due to a red eye on tuesday night.

My plan is to try to see the 9p WOC and then hop over to DL for the 10:30 F! which I've read is doable. My question is, do you think I should get the picnic so I have a guarantee viewing of WOC or am I okay just getting a normal fast pass?

A second thought I had was that since I'll prob want to get into Cars Land ASAP on Monday morning, I might be better off just getting the picnic and not worrying about obtaining a FP. Any experiences/thoughts people have?

Thanks so much. Can't wait for my visit!!

The picnic FP is nothing different than the regular FPs at the WoC machines. And it usually takes me about 2 minutes to get a regular WoC FP. Now we're not sure how opening procedures will be handled after this upcoming Friday, but my guess is that it won't be much of a hassle to get WoC FPs still. So unless you want the actual picnic meal or you really want to have peace of mind about knowing that you'll have a FP, I wouldn't bother with the picnics.

We just did the picnic and confirm that the Fast Passes for WoC are just the same as from the machines. The only reason I can imagine getting the picnics at this point is if you are going to arrive too late to get the WoC FPs. However, we were there this week and FPs for the second showing of WoC were available late into the afternoon and even evening.

As far as the picnic food is concerned, it is good, but I think they've upgraded the food in the parks and you can find other things that are just as good.

I don't really see the point to the picnics any more.

We did the picnics when we weren't arriving in the parks until the afternoon and it worked out great for us. We picked them up and ate them while we waited for the show. It gave something for my son to do and he loved the glow bracelet that came with it.

You know your schedule and if you want to spend time to get the fast pass and if you will enjoy the food. If you don't have alot of time and don't want to walk by GRR on your way to Carsland then get a picnic. I had an annual pass so I saved 10% and that was another reason I did it on the day we were arriving late.

I think the date of your visit needs to be taken into consideration and not use the "normal" patterns. This week is crowd level estimated for a 6 of 10. I'd err on the safe safe for June 18th and shoot for a 10 of 10. Given that- yeah, I'd do the picnics.

For one thing- it does give you the flexibility of not having to be @ GRR area at any particular time (time waste/crowd crush). Also if you want to see the 2nd WOC showing or even a 3rd showing on the 19th (maybe??). For me, I like having a better view and easier crowd situation and way less waiting in line time to be actually enjoy WOC. YMMV, if you don't mind long waits involved for strategically getting the best view OR if you have younger/older folks who can't stay that late to enjoy the show- then take that into account- BUT my point is, with the picnic lunches, I was able to say- "I want passes for the 2nd show" and they had them.

In this case, I think it's worth it.

I agree that the date of your visit might make you want to do the picnic. I thought the food was pretty good and we enjoyed not having to deal with figuring out dinner or fps for woc. Have fun!

I'll be there the same days and am planning on the parks being a zoo. I plan on watching WOC from the VGC viewing deck because personally standing in line to get a WOC FP does not appeal when there will be other FP lines I can spend plenty of time in. :lmao:

I got the picnics right after WOC first debuted, the food was decent, not great and not having to stand in line was nice (did not know that early that if one was staying on-site you could get FPs without the line). Usually it wouldn't be worth it, but next week, you're probably going to need every line advantage you can get so if WOC is important to you, then go for it. :thumbsup2
