WOC question

So I was talking about WOC to the lady who I was making lunch reservations for today at Blue Bayou.... She was telling me the differences for seating for WOC with a) dining reservations b) picnic lunch c) Fastpasses.... She said a) you are standing at the front... b) you are behind that, and c) you are to the right or to the left.

Does that sound right? If we don't do a)... it would seem to me that c) could give us better views than b), no? Does this make sense? lol

It is kind of a quick generalization. Really within any 'color' (section) you can adjust you distance from the water, either being at the water's edge or all the way back.

No, that's not right.

With the dining reservations you get preferred viewing, which is a circular area near the middle, but not right in front. But, there is a railing there with a good view if you get in the front of the preffered viewing area.

With the picnics you get either a blue or yellow FP. Blue is the better section.

With FPs you get either blue, yellow, or red, depending on what time you get your FP.

Having done the dinning option, I would do it again. When we lined up to get into our area, there were not that many people in front of us. The colored FP sections were packed. The preferred area doesn't get as crowded as the FP sections and because of that, you don't have to get there as early for a good spot.

Is it better to do picnics over FPs or is it pretty much the same?

Yes, it's between picnics and FP's for me as well. I'm fine with doing picnics if that means better seating. I wanted to do the dinners, but after finding out what was in the kid's meals, and knowing my kids wouldn't eat it, I couldn't justify the price.

I am going to guess it goes Blue is best, then yellow, then red?

WOC does not have any seating except for those in wheel chairs and a few benches here and there. So anyone who said anything about WOC seating is completely mistaken.

The problem with this question is that it has no answer. The best spots in any colored section are much better than the worst spots in others. All colored sections have good spots and bad spots.

The key is to know where the good views are in each section. Then get there.

It is not only "pretty much the same", it is exactly the same. When you get a WOC picnic you get a FP that works exactly the same as the FPs from the machines.

The advantages of picnics is you are guaranteed a spot for a certain WOC show and you do not need to wait in the FP collection line. And you can arrive late to DCA after all the regular FPs have been given out and get your picnic and still get your FP.

I realize that I said seating, but I *meant* spots. I am clear on the fact that this is a standing event, and not seating, and the CM I spoke too didn't lead me to think otherwise. It was my mistake when I typed out my post.

How do you know where the good views are in each section? Just have to guess and hope for the best? :confused3

Well... one great way is to discover the DISBoards where people who frequent the Parks often share with those planning their trips. :goodvibes

Dreams gave you the link. The WOC Superthread in my signature line does too. No need to guess. No need to hope... :wizard:

We decided at the last minute to see WOC with son and family on Thursday night...FP still available, got Red. Went in 45 minutes prior to show, and got right at rail, right on the water. I don't know how far down towards center the red section goes by the water, but I will tell we were pretty far to the right side of viewing area, and projections were very fuzzy at best. However..really amazing to be at nearly eye level of the fountains (had done the dinner on a previous trip and had dead center rail and projections were so crisp' but this view had it's great points too). I don't remember from the previous trip the glitter effect in the water..very neat! Also..did they always have those balls come up from the water with pictures on them? Really neat..wish they utilized that more for the poor projection view areas.
Also, they are still doing the Tron part toward the end..Nice addition!
