I read Hydroguy's WOC thread but had a question.
We will be in the parks next week Monday through Friday. Early in the week is it still necessary to line up 60-90 minutes before the show to get a good seat? My husband hates waiting....

If you want a very good viewing spot, there will be some waiting involved no matter what night you go (unless you both are very tall and can see fine from the back). How much waiting will depend on how many shows there are that night (should be 2 shows for your dates) and which show you pick. The later show is usually a little less crowded and requires less waiting. If you must have a specific spot in your section or if you will have a hard time viewing unless you are right up front, then investing more time waiting will be to your advantage. Otherwise, you could show up closer to showtime, and take whatever spots are available. You may not get a good viewing spot, but you won't have a long wait either.

Yes, if you want to be sure, for sure, to have a good view. If you can afford to risk a poor view then you can cut it closer.

P.S. You don't get a seat, just a viewing area.

Also, if you want to cut down on waiting, pick the 2nd show and go for preferred seating (get dinner at one of the participating restaurants).

If you had to cut it close (~30-45 minutes before show time in an offseason ... late January), what is the best area to go to? Should I get fast passes? Does it matter which color fast passes I get?

Watching the WOC requires a pass for entry into the viewing area. You get the passes from GRR fast pass area.

Here is a link to Hydroguy's take on things.....

There might be more people than usual for last week of Jan, first week of Feb due to the weekday closure Disney has scheduled for WOC. Keep that in mind when you go for a WOC pass.

Probably the fire hydrant as discussed in the WOC Superthread. Far more important than the color of the FP is getting to the show early. Frankly for many people it is just not worth it to see show if you do not arrive early enough. This is a result of the poor design of the viewing area.

I suggest going to one of the WoC meals and getting a FP for the second show. By doing that you will be able to show up later, like 30 minutes before show time.

We just went to WOC on Friday after Thanksgiving(very crowded). We went to the 1st show with dinner pkg. The waitress told us we didn't need to be there till around 7:45 for 8p show. She said our seats were saved. I told my SIL that that was not right, cause of all my DIS friends advice. We got there at 7:15ish, and the preferred seating was almost gone. We ended up sitting in the wet zone by the rail right in front of the preferred area and the view was awesome. This show is so good, in my opinion one of the best disney does at all parks. Not to be missed. We were lucky that there was a rail area for the kids to stand at, cause children under 4feet would not see a thing unless being held for 30mins.
