WOC picnics walk-up availability and FP question

I bought picnics for my family for this Thurs. My sister procrastinated and is now out of luck. It's my birthday and I'd like us to sit together. Aren't there some picnics sold in the park, without reservations? Are they for a separate show or do they have separate sections on their FPs? If anyone has tips on how to go about getting more picnics for Thurs., please share.

Or could we use our fast passes from our picnics for a later show or even another night, to match theirs? I know they're not meant to be used that way, but would the CMs even notice if we used a Thurs. FP on Fri. or something?

If they buy them there, they'd be for the later show. Pre-orders are for the first show. You could ask the CM at the pick up counter if there is anyway you could get FPs for the later show instead. The CMs at the show DO CHECK to make sure you are using them for the correct show.

We were there 2 weeks ago. You can walk up and ask I there are extra picnics available. I read somewhere that they sometimes have extra ones. As for using yours to go later, you can ask at best but they do look at every ticket.

And a word of warning--unless you make sure to pick up your picnics at the same time, you may not be in the same section, even if it is the same show. We did this last week, we picked our picnics up at 5 pm and got in the blue section, my sister and her family picked theirs up at 6:30 and were in the yellow section. We were quite disappointed and they would not change it.

I've half a mind to just not waste a lot of time on WOC at all. Maybe just show up for the 11:15 show about 10:30, with ponchos from the dollar store and try to get wet section without a lot of fuss? I don't really mind if we don't get a good view UNLESS we spend hours and hours and $$$ on trying to, y'know?

I could be wrong, but my understanding was that you need fastpasses even to attend the 11:15 show; you can't just show up. I know when they made the announcement each afternoon that we were there (6/19-6/21) that the park would be staying open until 11 and they were adding the third show, they also made the announcement that you could go to GRR to get a fastpass for it.
