Hi,

We leave in four days for our trip! This year grandma and grampa will be using scooters for the first time. Are there handicapped sections for these shows? Are scooters considered the same as wheelchairs? If there is a separate area for wheelchairs\scooters and will we be able to stand with them?

I have the same questions for rides. They can get off their scooters and walk short distances. Do we use the handicapped entrance on the rides? Do we all go together or do we have to separate. I'm hoping we can enjoy the rides together. Not looking to cheat the system, just wondering how this will all work and we want to enjoy our experiences with them.

Are scooters allowed on the monorail?

Any info anyone has on handicapped services and how it all works are much appreciated.

Thanks!

Yes scooters would be the same as a wheelchair. I know that there is a special section at WoC for Handicap access, but I'm fairly certain you still need to get the Fast Passes for admission.

I think F! has a section, but it is filled on a first come first serve basis. I don't know about RDCT fireworks.

Yes you can go with them to ride the rides, I think it is a party of 6 rule. However, that doesn't mean you get to speed right on either, I have seen the handicap line at space worse than than the standby line.

I don't think that scooters are allowed on the monorail, but I could be wrong.

The other question is are you bringing your own or renting Disney ones, or Renting local. If you are using Disney ones, your can't take them past the checkpoints, so no using them in DTD or to and fro to hotels on harbor. Keep that in mind when planning.

You will need to get a GAC (guest assistance card) from Town Hall to be able to use the handicapped exit ramps on rides. :thumbsup2

en my mother used a scooter she never needed a GAC.

The group limit is 6 with a scooter.

Scooters are allowed on the monorail but they may not sit in the scooter while the monorail is in motion. (please keep in mind what an earlier poster said that if they are Disney scooters they can't be taken past checkpoints therefore Disney scooters will not be allowed on the monorail)

Fantasmic has a wheelchair section as someone mentioned which is a first come first serve basis.

You still need a fastpass to view World of Color but once you get that there is a handicapped section.

Rides vary as to where to go and if you get straight on the ride or have to walk a short distance. The disneyland website has a lot of information with wheelchairs and each ride specifically.

have fun!
