WOC desert party

We got our plates right after we were seated, which for us was 8:15 (we lined up at 7:30).

I suggest eating light! It’s soooooo much food! The cheese and crackers are almost a meal and then the desserts too. I really wish we had a bread basket like previous years, it would have made the whole thing a complete meal honestly!
Thanks! I'll stick with something small and save Wine Country for another night.

When we were there in 2017, they were included in the Dessert party. I thought the same as your husband but we crammed it in the suitcase and made it home. Every once in a while we turn it on just to see it change colors.
Oh that is right--- included for kids, but $28 for non-kids. They were selling them at some of the restaurants too. I remember DD begging for another one to bring home to her best friend and DH about having a meltdown over the price and size. I don't even know what happened to hers. DH probably "disappeared" it for cabinet space.

They are doing the first showing only for non-grad nite people, and then a special grad nite showing later is my understanding. We bought tickets for the WoC on 6/10 - fingers crossed it happens!

I have a question about grad nights too: We booked the WOC Dessert Party for 5/22 and I see grad nights are 5/20 and 5/21 (during our stay anyway) so this shouldn’t affect us, right? Like, isn’t it just CA that shuts down for grads on their specific nights? We’ll be at CA on the 22nd which supposedly isn’t one of their dates but just checking to be safe -_-

That is correct based on the info and schedule we have so far. Of course Disney being Disney there could be changes between now and then, but I think you are safe.

Yes: great video.
No: so many kids on shoulders. That really bums me out. Has me seriously considering canceling.
Bummed a little about missing part of projections, but realistically those same people would be in front of me and my 3 grandkids anyway and we'd see less, unless we are willing to spend hours staking out a front row and then defending it from people getting in front. My park hours are more important and this way I can still see most without stress *except on reservations day, in a seat with an adult beverage.

I'm a bit surprised that they don't set up some sort of bleacher area along the mid sides (Genie +) and have seat cushions set up in the middle for "seating area only" (Genie+) and standing on the edges for walkup.

As I was watching all the kids on shoulders I was thinking that if would be nice if Disney did not allow it. They could site a safety issue. Doubt that will ever happen though.
Yeah, it has been a thing since WoC started so I think you are right, they'll never get around to stopping it.

I think original plans included something more like bleachers, but ended up nixed for some reason. It has been quite a while though, so I might be mis-remembering!

I don't understand why they don't put the dessert party closer to the front? They could use all low tables and then people standing in a section behind the tables could still see.

Or just not allow kids on shoulders! It is inevitable though that someone always holds up an ipad as high as they can in front me.

The kids situation is a bit annoying, but I can understand it. The ipad thing just makes me so angry though! Seriously people?!

We decided not to do the dessert party specifically because of that. Since we're 2 adults, we decided we're going to do the 2nd show of the night and hope that lets us roll up just before the show and still get a good standing view.

Problem is, even when you're standing those people are in front of you with kids on shoulders. As a short person, I can't see anything at that point.

I just got a 8pm reservation for May 24 and am so happy!! I was wondering though if people prefer the 8pm show over the 9.15pm show and if yes, why?

I totally forgot to mention during the booking process that I do not eat cheese. I guess I was just so excited ;) Do I have to call Disney about dietary restrictions or can I let the CMs know when we check in for the party?

Call ahead. The plates are pre-packaged.

For anyone who has done the dessert party recently: are they serving crackers with the cheese now? Some early reviews said there were no crackers.

Just beware, I've heard that people were just getting a plate of fruit when they have a special request. I would ask on the phone to make sure you will still get the desserts.
