WOC- Are we going to get wet?

I watched the Ustream video tonight and at the end, they showed people from the crowd who were completely drenched! I'm worried about that because my 6 year old does NOT like to get wet. For those who saw previews of it already, is it likely that we're going to get wet?

ODV is selling ponchos... so yeah... :)

Are there places to stand where you WON'T get wet, or is it likely that we're ALL going to? LOL...we might skip it next week and go when DD is older. She's not fond of loud sounds and doesn't like to get wet. Perhaps we should just hang out at Disneyland while everyone is watching WOC! :rotfl2:

We were about 20 feet back and we got wet, not drenched but we got a pretty good misting! No worries though, it can be refreshing when it's hot out. Solution would be to just have your child wear a rain poncho.

We'll see what really happens but in all the reviews I've read people have said:

  • Boardwalk = SOAKED (I believe this is where the DIS's correspondent was?)
  • Front tier = maybe soaked; maybe wet; maybe mist? (I've heard all three; might depend on wind conditions)
  • Higher than front tier = probably just mist/a little water

Unfortunately, I'm not so sure there's a way to KNOW exactly how close you'll be. I have some ponchos just in case. :flower3:

We stayed in the Villas 2 weeks ago and I was surprised at how hot the fire felt that far away and couldn't imagine the feeling up close and all the spray of water.

Disney has scary fire displays...May '09 we stayed at DLH with concierge, and one night watched the DL fireworks from their lounge. They open the windows (well, they did...not sure if they will have windows to open up there, but I hope they still do otherwise the glare will be awful) for it. And when the flames shoot up, you CAN feel them. Through DL, through DTD, all the way to the hotel...it's just a bit, it's momentary, but I could feel it with my eyes closed (wasn't just pretending I could feel it)...amazing.

ROFL! No rain.

Boardwalk - Soaked is accurate.
Front tier - wet, not soaked, outer sweatshirt was decently wet (used it as a cover, hair was wet, definitely more than mist
Higher tier - slight mist

From the front tier, it was pretty hot. Sort of helped dry off. hehe

Hmm...I might need to purchase something for my 2-year old then. I'm not exactly sure where our standing reserved area is, but I'm doing both the dining option for 1 night and the picnic meals for another. A drenched, grouchy toddler is not pretty after a long day at the parks! ;)

Plus, just so you know, even in the middle of summer, it's NOT still hot out at night, at 9:15pm...

It gets chilly here at night, even in summer...

Bring ponchos!
