WOC and a stroller

Hi all,

Its been several years since I last saw WOC and we are thinking of trying to catch it via a fastpass on our upcoming trip. We will be toting our 2 little boys in a side by side stroller so I am trying to figure out the protocol. Do you take your stroller with you into the area or is there some sort of designated stroller parking?
Thanks in advance!!

I took my jogger down to the front row and my son sat in it and watched the show, there was tons of strollers in the viewing area...That was this summer so hopefully they haven't changes the rules...

We were just there the 20-24th. We brought our stroller down and were right at one of the railings. There were tons of other strollers as well.

I have a story about this...we had FPs for WOC but showed up 5 minutes before the show started. Of course all good views were taken. But someone had a huge stroller parked right at the railing in a good spot. Child wasn't even in it. So we stood behind the stroller and had a decent view. I was kind of annoyed that someone would do that though, taking up space where 2 people could be standing. Not sure why strollers can't be left somewhere else.

Not always, but often, there are half asleep or sleeping children in the strollers since WOC runs late. This year, our son stayed up for all of it, but the last two times, he ended up half asleep or all the way asleep in the stroller. The family next to us this time had a kid sleeping in theirs as well.

Also, the area gets so crowded around there, that I am not sure where someone would leave their stroller. This time around I probably would have left the stroller somewhere, but the area around Ariel's was already full, and much of the area surrounding the WOC viewing area is taking up by the line to get in. It would be a great idea for Disney to have a stroller parking area though :)

I agree, a stroller area would be nice. I can also see how a sleeping child in a stroller would prevent someone from leaving the stroller far away. I just don't think strollers should be left in optimum viewing spots without a child in them or with a sleeping child in them who won't be watching the show. It's taking spots up for people who want to see. They should atleast put them out of the way or stand somewhere where they can do that. Just my opinion

We always bring our stroller. Unfortunately, it makes it easy for people to crowd past us (which they do a lot and then complain when they suddenly stop and get their ankles ran over), but that way you don't have to leave it somewhere else in the park. And because everyone stands (unlike F!), it can be right there with you.

Thanks to everyone!!! Exactly what I needed to know. My kids are too heavy to be held and too small to sit on the ground and possibly be trampled so I figure the stroller is the safest place for them to be.

We brought our double stroller in to the viewing area. It gave the kids a great place to sit waiting, eat their dinner, cuddle up under blankets until the show started. When the show did start, they stood on the seats to watch (they were still not as tall as I so didn't block anyone's view more than anyone else would have).

While I get what you are saying, I also think you can't really expect to have a good viewing spot showing up 5 min before the show. We get in line about an hour before the show to make sure we have a good viewing spot, and if that stroller wasn't there, you would have had a much taller person in the way at the railing. It actually can help viewing to have those stroller breaks so those not in the front have a chance of a place to peek through.

I don't want to be rude, but maybe a better solution is that you arrive early like everybody else if you want a railing spot. We get there early - sometimes my younger kids rest in the stroller while we wait, sometimes they stand in it to watch, sometimes they don't. Usually DH and I stand behind the stroller (park it parallel to the railing), but I've found it gives us a nice buffer from other people - I've had adults elbow my kids out of their spots. With 4 kids, leaving the stroller elsewhere during the show wouldn't have been a viable option for us. And it's not really up for you to decide when it's necessary or not. And truthfully I've never seen WOC so crowded that a stroller stops anybody from finding a spot.

You're right about showing up 5 minutes before show starting but I also wouldn't show up an hour early with a fastpass but that's just me

Nothing wrong with you standing near the stroller, in our case the stroller was set next to the railing with the family off to the side. Atleast I'm assuming they were, nobody actually seemed to be with the stroller. I'm not against strollers, just when people use them to save spots and never use it.

Definitely. Besides, if that stroller wasn't there, the spot would have been taken by someone who WAS willing to show up an hour early with a FP.

Not if the stroller was in the way. Let's move on from this discussion, I'm obviously in the minority

I'm just going to put out there that I have 3 kids, including twins who aren't quite 3 years old yet and one that's 6. There is no way we would be able to see WoC where it's standing room only unless we brought the stroller. If I could park the stroller elsewhere, I would. I hate life with a double stroller especially. But, for some families, it's not realistic to be able to avoid having one in an area where you have small children and many people crammed together.

To bring this back to OP, yes, you can bring your stroller. Get there early to get a good spot though because if you show up 5 minutes before the show, your kids won't be able to see whether they stand or are in their stroller. I've found that WoC isn't great for kids due to the limitations of the viewing area. Not saying not to see it because it's a great show, but you definitely need to be there early.
