How can I stay at a moderate resort for value price??? I have AAA discount for the all star Music resort but would REALLY like to stay at one of the moderate resorts. I hear of people paying 88/nt for POR or Caribbean. Is that humanly possible???
HELP!!!!! :)
Both my hubby and I have just gotten 15% pay cuts and need help going th WDW CHEAP! Any suggestions??
Thanks!

Going May10-17 and can't wait!

I can't help with the specific hotel question, but if you watch these boards and check out www.mousesavers.com you'll find a lot of good money-saving tips. Mousesavers saved me a CHUNK of money on my last trip - now that I've also discovered these boards, I hope my next trip will be even cheaper. :smooth:

The deep discounts usually require either being a Florida resident (with proof) or at least one person in the group having an Annual Pass.

I managed to get the CBR for $79 per night for June, I had a postcard, but also we booked two rooms, so I think that dropped the price too. I almost booked online, so glad I didn't. I called Disney Reservations and got this great price (also was only available room only - not package).
Good luck!

People have filled out the survey to get the free planning video and state that they are staying offsite (even though they aren't) and they say disney has sent some a postcard or e-mail with a discount on it for when they are staying.

Good luck!! :cool1:

Thanks for your help! ... and understanding my spelling mistakes...I have a cold
I will check mousesavers and I understand allearsnet.org has info too.

Thanks! Is the survey you are talking about the one you fill in for requesting a disney planning video/dvd? I don't think that option came up for me when I did it but I will get my husband to try it.

First trip to WDW may10-17!!!!!! Can't wait!!!

I believe the survey is with the planning video/dvd. I'm waiting to order mine this fall because we are going in Feb. 2006.

At the top of the resort board is a codes and rates thread that will tell you if there are any codes you can apply to your stay.

If you have gotten a dicount because you have booked 2 rooms, this must be a first for Disney! I have never heard of them doing that. You really lucked out. What type of discount did you get??? I know you said post card??? I am a pass holder & Fl Resident & the lowest I could get PO-R for was $109... $121 with tax... and I canceled... I cannot bring my self to pay that, especially not when I paid $79 last year for the same dates....

The big discounts are usually from being an AP holder or having a postcard or pin code attached to your name. The pin codes are usually the best discounts but who knows how you get them? I've gone every year for the last 20 years and I've never gotten one!

I have APs because we go at least twice a year now. In Dec. we got Pop Century for $49/night. For our upcoming trip in May we are getting AKL for $139/night standard view.

Even if you are only going for a week, and AP might make sense if you can get enough off the hotel. You can also get discounts on some meals and on some shopping.

sharon- I hear ya on the price increase.. I have never paid more than $79 for a moderate resort and even with the increase there are no moderate resorts for my dates with fla rates or ap. :guilty: I ended up doing the value at $66 a night and that is really more than I want to pay...

You should call and speak with a CM. I have been calling regularly to find the best price for our trip in May. I had resigned myself to buying an AP in order to get the discount for our two rooms and had already rerserved the room under the AP rate. I checked back yesterday and the CM happened to mentioned a code (in addition to the AP code) in my information. I hadn't received an email or postcard, but the code saved me lots $$$! Good luck. :flower:

You should really do the math and figure out whether buying an AP could save you $. It looks like you go to WDW every year, so if you could plan next year's visit even one week before the date of your AP activation, you could use it for both trips. Therefore the cost of your AP is now $420 minus what you would have spent on park passes for two trips. That difference compared with the savings using an AP code verses the rate you now have will probably have you coming out ahead with an AP?

Does that make sense? This is how we always do it and it saves us quite a bit. You only need the AP for one member of your family. We also added the DDE to my AP this year, which paid for itself in only 2-3 meals. Over our next visit, with two hungry teen boys we anticipate a considerable savings!!

I don't know what type of discount I got? And yes this is our first time to WDW. I just called and asked the CM what moderate I could stay at with 3 adults and 2 kids in the same room. I think CR was the only one? Didn't want to stay there so he said I'd need two rooms and quoted $79 per night at the POR, I asked him to check if that was available at CBR and it was. He said it would be $99 if I got one room ($79 for two)? Also could only do room-only booking. I didn't care because we're driving, also didn't want meal plan. About a week later the postcard came, and I called back to check the price (not saying I already had a booking). It was still $79 per night. I guess I got lucky. Didn't realize it was so hard to get that rate? Now I feel extra lucky. :cheer2:

we are staying at POR in june for 79.00 a night. I had received a pin number in an email they sent me. I am a florida resident and i have a disney visa don't know if that is the reason i got this rate or not but i sure did alot of cheering when the CM told me the rate. :earsgirl:

good for you all. we too are fla residents and ap holders and nada here for us.. cant figure it out... :confused3 we stayed at the swan in feb since there were no good rates at disney. this is the first year we havent been able to snag a fla rate and we go at least 3 times a year... :guilty:

You might want to consider renting points from a DVC member. You can have a 5-night stay (Sun.-Thurs.) in a studio @ Old Key West for as little as $80 night (depending on what time of year you travel). There is no room tax plus you'd be able to save money by eating light meals in the room. Refrigerator, microwave, and toaster are standard in the room as well as free laundry facilities to use. It's a win-win situation as you get deluxe accomodations at a moderate price while the DVC member gets a return on their investment if the can't use the points themselves. Hop over to the DVC Rent/Trade board and check it out!

Thank you for your help!! The thought crossed my mind about renting points but I don't know anything about it and I don't know anyone who has done it. I will check out the DVC forum again and see what is available.
Thanks again for your assistance!

Can't wait until may10!! First trip to WDW...

runningchic, just wanted you to know that I rented points for the first time in February. It was a very good experience. Check in advance how many points you need for the dates you want on the points chart over on the DVD rental board. Also, narrow down which resort you want, and of course which accomodation you want, studio, 1 BR, 2 BR, grandvilla, etc. If you do this in advance, it will help the DVC member in checking availability. If you do rent points, the owner can make certain room requests, which floor, smoking, non-smoking, and general area of the resort. These are not guaranteed, but if you check in at a reasonable time (not too late), you have a better shot at getting your requests.

We stayed in a studio at OKW and will do so again in June.

Pools were great, room was great, busses were great (we were near the bus stop and a quiet pool). It was great having a fridge (it's about half size) to store water, drinks, sandwich meat, some snacks.

These are excellent accomodations, much cheaper than if you paid cash through Disney. Only possible drawback (not for us) is no daily maid service.
It will make you want to buy DVC though.

when are you going that you got the value for $66???? I was quoted $74... I am going this coming week & $74 was quoted for June as well. I called back yesterday & asked about the $79 rate for a mod & was told that there aren't any & weren't any. CM also said that best deal out there is AP or FL res rates... I am not saying that anyone is a liar on the $79, all I am saying is that Disney will not fess up to different rates... and there are no "codes" or "pins" next to my name... I must go too often for them to have to intice me back

PS... your children are adorable :flower:
