We are staying here for the first time in June/July. We have a one bedroom and we were wondering what might be some room requests we could make.

Thanks!

As you've probably read on these boards, the views at VWL or mostly of trees and more trees. :) That being said, I ask for a pool view, third floor or higher. Such a view breaks up the monotonous view (though it is still lovely) and usually provides some partial glimpses of the lake. My last trip in December, I was on the fourth floor (not as close to the pool as I like, but it was still visible), and we not only were able to see the EWP through the trees but also caught quite a bit of Wishes over the tops of the main lodge. Hope you enjoy VWL as much as I do. :thumbsup2

If I requested near the main lobby, would it still be possible to be near a pool?

It's a really small resort. You aren't far from anything. There is a pool at the villas, but it's not themed. If you are talking about the themed pool by the WL, you aren't that close to have a room close to that pool.

The Villas portion of the WL is a separate building, connected by a covered walkway. As such, you wouldn't technically be near the main lobby nor the main pool. However, as Deb & Bill accurately point out, this isn't a sprawling resort--nothing is very far away. The Hidden Springs pool and hot tub area sits immediately behind the Villas section, but the main pool (with slide, pool bar, geyser) is literally less than a minute walk around the right wing of the main lodge from the Hidden Pool. I prefer Hidden Springs as it is quieter and you don't normally have to jockey for poolside chairs as much as you do at the main pool. And, though you can request a room close to the Hidden Springs pool, you still have to walk through the small Villas wing lobby to get to it (there is a front and back entrance). Don't worry--you won't be far from anything at the Lodge. :thumbsup2

You will absolutely love VWL! As most posters have said, the view is mostly trees. There really aren't any bad views, except, I believe there is a dumpster view, but we have never experienced that. Even the parking lot view is covered by trees. You really feel like you are in a cabin in the woods. Enjoy!

We were told by the bell staff at OKW to request a low number in the last two digits of the room number for VWL-- we spent 6 nights at OKW and 2 nights at VWL. The rooms with the lower digits for the last two numbers are near the elevators. We got one, but what we were most happy about was that we could check into our room around 11AM-- we wanted to settle in more than have a view from a higher floor. We were really pleased with Wilderness Lodge. It was a very different experience from OKW, and our kids loved both of them. We liked the pool at VWL and being able to take the boat the MK.

We supposedly had a pool view room, but it was all trees on the second floor. It was fine though as everything is beautiful, and everything is close to the villas.

I'm sure that you'll have a great time.
