WLV points now more than BCV!!

We are now short on VWL and AKV points, we planned on having pts so we could go twice a year and now we don't have enough pts. For a weekly stay in a studio at AKV it went from 117 to 119. And we use our VWL for a 2 bd for 5 nights and it went from 170 to 195 in May.

Maybe this is Disney's plan so that they will sell a lot of 25pt. contracts?

I obviously missed something. I went to the DVC website and this is what was posted.
On January 21 a version of the 2010 Vacation Point Charts was incorrectly posted. An updated version will be made available within the next week. Members with valid email addresses on record will receive an email when the new charts are available. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

So what is the "change" that everyone is speaking of and is the above message indicative that some "working chart in progress" was posted rather than the accuarate one? I'm so confused!

Watch them start charging closing costs on the 25 pointers only or even charging more per point for them.

Ouch!!

I take that back, they may be monitoring this board. I don't want to give them any ideas.

I thought the total points for the year for a room size has to stay the same. They can adjust between weekday and weekend or the seasons but they have to add up to the same total for the full year. I don't have the charts in front of me but that doesn't sound right they could have increased 1 bedrooms all year long.

Here is Doc's excellent response from another thread:
They can't change the total points for all units at the reort - so you need to add up the total points needed to reserve all of the studios, 1BRs, 2BRs and GVs. They can then modiify the room types based on seasons anyway they want as long as the total points are not changed.

Thus, they could balance the total points at SSR by rasing the 1BR points by 10,000 for the year and lowering the GV points by 10,000 and they would still be in balance without making any other changes. In reality, there are millions of points available to balance the system.

They fixed that too. They changed the minimum add in to 100 points in Jan. So now they increase the number of points we need to stay, but also increase the number of points we need to buy to add on.

I believe the 100 minimum is only for BLT at this time.

My thoughts too, but we just purchased AKV in August and now can't even stay 1 week in a studio. I spoke with my guide last night (who is also a member) and she said they had a meeting yesterday, but couldn't really tell me anything except that the charts should be out in about a week. When I told her about the posts here, she said she knows "they" (guess she means Disney management) monitor the threads.

Me too, the first night.

No response so far.
Just sent one. Does anyone have the "guestcommunication" address. I don't know if the link from the website goes to the right place. I remember with the mug "crisis" that I was told to use this email address.....guestcommunication was in the address.

:lmao: Ahem....they are monitering these boards....and I hope they see how pissed off most members are....and will be when they find out. I feel sorry for the people who are not "obsessed" with WDW and won't find out till to late.

I know I don't have enough points now either for a full week. Honestly....it was getting nuts trying to plan so many trips.....sometimes I need a "forced evaluation"....and I think I just got it.
Thanks! Not loving it!

Me either:sad2:

Ok everyone lets not turn on each other. Yes this upsetting, especially when it seems they are making these major changes without any input from the majority of members.

But it is understandable if they are trying to balance out peak times, that VWL is the one in demand during the holiday season of December. Just as the Epcot resorts are for Food and Wine.

It stinks but please don't attack someone new to the forums just because they can see the reason for the madness.

I say we flood Member Satisfaction with emails, y'all think we can shut down their server.

Mea culpa. I had been up all night with a critically ill child and was cranky. Didn't mean to be offensive and I apology to you all for my post.

I use dvcmembersatisfactionteam@disneyvacationclub.com .

Sent my e-mail off too and got a form letter receipt. It'll be interesting to see what Disney says for themselves about this.

I too hope they are reading these threads. They can see how they have turned a former devout lover into a big ol' cynic in me.

Mark my words, this change could well prove to be the biggest mistake DVC attempted. Too many people are finding it costs them more to stay and therefore devalues their ownership. I highly doubt there will be a flood of add-ons to catch up. Instead I can foresee attendance dropping off and with it revenue.

Thanks so much....I just sent one off.

Honestly....I love Disney and I want them to succeed.....but I'm starting to get a bad taste in my mouth....and I'm feeling uneasy about DVC.

I am still shocked that 1BR's are most popular. I wonder if it was because times were good and people were splurging.(I was) Now I wonder if in bad times peoples natural inclination would be to go for a studio instead.....I for one was thinking of doing this before the change. If it does happen...more studios and less 1BR demand ....it will just skew off everything anyway.

It just pisses me off how people are pissed they can't buy a few more points....and will just add on 25 pt....this is what "they" want.

There will be no effect on attendance and likely no drop off of revenue. Point totals for the year for the resorts are exactly the same as before. Any points you sell, someone else will buy and use. If you're not in the villa that you would have rented previously, someone else will be. As someone else said in another thread, it's a zero sum game. And Disney does not care WHO is occupying the villas, just that there are members there. That's the whole point of the change, I believe. To even out demand for the various units at various times of the year.

I believe the 100 minimum is only for BLT at this time.

Does anyone know if the min. add IS now 100? Just a curioisty question, because right now my husband is so mad at DVC there is no chance we will be buying at present(he is one of the many now saying disney has lost the magic and we will be looking to "expand our horizins" now elsewhere for vacations (and this is from a former die hard disney fan!)

Honestly I think DVC/Disney will take a hit....not because of the point charts...but because of the economy, and in these times people are spending their money more carefully and If one already feels "cheated" in this economy, they might spend elsewhere.

I believe that is for BLT. Minimum add-on is 25. But I would try to demand to buy a few if I was a new owner that got bamboozled.

Thanks! As upset as we are over this change, I doubt we will be adding on anyway, but I kinda wanted to know if we still had the option if we change our minds - lol. We ourselves are not new owners, but we do feel disney has gone a bit overboard in the way they drastically rearranged the charts. For myself, I think I would be less upset if we had been given more notice that this was being considered(I just booked a weekend in oct- we would have saved those points as a buffer if we had known they were going to pull this on us!) Upon advice of our guide, we bought enough points for a 6 day stay in a one bedroom, but recently have been using studios instead to stretch our vacations out (both kiddos now grown- and only daughter and possibly one of her friends traveling with us now) . Now we don't even have enough to have that 6 day stay we bought in at . Yes, we knew points could change, but our guide led us to believe just for holidays and such. And even if the points changed, going up so drastically for 1 bedrooms and weekdays (especially in the summer when many of us have no choice but to travel ( such as we teachers) seems a bit unfair. Before I get flamed, please understand that this is my opinion only and I know those weekend only and larger point holders who can afford to stay longer will disagree (and I respect your right to do so!LOL)
