We are planning a trip in March 2004 and have never stayed at WLV. We are planning on staying in a one bedroom villa and would like some advice on what to request. There will be four of us - Me, my wife and two sons aged 8 and 5. Any thoughts? Also, do you know where we can get a map of the resort including room numbers, pool location etc.

I would think the rooms with a pool view are probably the best - however these are less than 2% of the rooms.

so just ask for a room near the elevators.

there use to be a map on this site of VWL but I can't find it anymore - the one of WL is before VWL was added.

the villa are located where the angle appears between 1 and 5 on the map - over behind this section - where it is marked woods on this map.

you are closer to the bus stop than the lodge (hotel part) is a little further away from the boats.

Probably the best view I've ever had was 4519. Just over the back entrance into the villas from the quiet pool, over Sturdy Branches!!! AWESOME view of the quiet pool and the lake beyond. Couldn't really see the water parade, since it was obstructed by the trees, but sure could hear the music!

As has been pointed out, the overwhelming majority of the views are of the woods. Which is appropriate since the theming is the Northwest and all the trees are pine trees.

Spiceycat nailed it.....ask for a room near the elevators and that's your best bet. You can also ask for a room on the Bay Lake side (same side as the pool) if you'd like. Couldn't hurt.

Room requests are supposedly filled in the order received and in the order given on the phone. So if a pool view is your top priority, you should request that. But that would come ahead of other requests such as non-smoking, etc.

Since so few rooms have pool views, I prefer to go with the wider choice of "near the elevators" to give the room assigners more to work with.

Good luck!

Last June we were in 2511. It was a 1 BR (not dedicated). We were very close to the elevator, looked out over the quiet pool, could see the lake and even a bit of the water parade. I thought the room was just great - the only thing I'd change is maybe to be up one or two floors - but I'd take it again if it were available. Good luck in getting the perfect room!

Thanks everyone for the great advice. We have always stayed at OKW but are planning 5 nights at Vero and 5 nights at WLV. Having never been to either of them, we are very thankfully for all the great advice here at the DIS.

We also had a one bedroom right over Sturdy Branches. We had the 2nd floor. Great view of the woods, the quiet pool and the lake. It was Christmas time so we had a Christmas tree right outside our room in the lobby.

OK so two people have mentioned Sturdy Branches. What is Sturdy Branches?

Room 5553 has an AWESOME view. The only problem is that it is a dedicated 2br, but perhaps a 1br near that one would be about the same view. You can look out of the bedroom or living room and see beautiful trees that had a perfectly carved out 'V' where you can look through and see the lake. The view of the trees and lake appeared to be totally uninhabited.... 'No boats, no lights no motor cars, not a single luxury....'

This may be too much information for some, but taking a shower with the bathroom door open, looking through the shower glass and the bedroom window, you would swear you are taking a shower outside in the wilderness! :teeth:

Enjoy VWL......
