OK, we have decided not to do concierage and now are trying to decide on the view. We are not really big into looking at the pool so would the Woods view be for us? Are there any rooms with really bad views in this category? My fear is having a balcony that looks at the parking lot!

Hi turnlisa! :)

I stayed at the WL (7 - 11th July) and had a woods view.

Since im a smoker, i ended up with staying at the 6th floor. I guess sometimes its a win win situation to be a smoker!. ;)

They hide us smokers away from the rest on the 6th floor, and therefore we get a nice view!. :teeth:

I could see: Top half of Contemporary resort, Space mountain, and a bit of the monorail leading up to Contemporary.
I had a very nice view of the fireworks too!. :goodvibes

Here is some pics of the view:

Hope this gives you an idea, what to expect (if you get wood view MK side).

If you don't want the pool view, then you definitely would want the woods view.

We were also on the 6th floor this June with a woodsview and we could see the castle and watch the fireworks. There were some trees between us, but that definately did not affect our view of the fireworks!

I would stay woods too because it quieter and costs less if you really aren'y into pool views. Besides, you get to watch the otters in the pond below. Many of the woods view rooms also give you a great shot of Wishes at night depending on floor and trees in the way. Don't worry, in some cases if you don't like your room you could always request to be moved. You're on vacation!!! Have fun!

You can also visit the Wilderness Lodge photo gallery in my signature to see lots of balcony views and other WL shots. Over 120,000 total views!! :)

Fred,
I liked the views from rooms 6031 (great view of the lake) and 6149 (geiser view). Are those smoking rooms? Is the whole 6th floor smoking?

6th Floor north wing is smoking. That is the wing that has a view of the castle/CR. The 6th floor south wing is no smoking. If you don't smoke, you probably wont want to stay on the 6th floor north wing because you can smell it right off of the elevator. Fire away with questions. I love to help!!

Unfortunately for me, the WL has become so popular I can't get a room there myself sometimes!! :)

I would love a view of the castle and lake. Any suggestions? What are the 7th floor rooms like?

I don't think any woods view rooms would have views of the parking lot. I believe only a few standard view rooms look out on the parking lot. We had a woods view room once, and looked out on a little playground between WL and the villas. It wasn't bad at all, but then, we don't sit around the room much enjoying the view. Typically, if we're in our room, the drapes stay shut so our DD's can sleep.

No Woods View looks out onto the Parking Lot.

Like Majestic said request the Woods view overlooking the otter pond.

We have stayed on the 5th floor several times. Non smoking. Haven't smelled any tobacco smoke from the 6th floor. The otter pond is the WL side that overlooks the monorail and the castle in the distance and far distance respectively. We love to watch the otthers in the otter pond. And in the evenings we like to watch the fireworks from the MK (partially obscured by the trees).

7th floor is Concierge.

I recommend opting for the woods view. It is cheaper and if you are specific with your room request, you can get a somewhat distant Castle/Wishes view. Request 5th floor on North (I think) side with a MK view. We had a room with bunk beds with that view and it was sweet. The way I look at it, every hotel has a pool, but there is only one Cindy's Castle.

If you do opt for pool view, make sure to request inner courtyard, otherwise you may end up with a view of the quiet pool by the VWL.

No matter what room you end up with, you will love this resort. The themeing is beautifully executed and the boat transportation is convienient and fun.

Majestic and Denmark,

Thanks so much for sharing the photos! Made us definitely decide on the woodsview room. Thanks for all the tips too about what to request. I usually go through a travel agent and am planning on going through AAA this time. When do I make my request and to who? Do I make it to AAA and hope it gets through to Disney or do I go to Disney directly? Any suggestions?

No problem. :)

When you get a reservation number, "I" would recommend that you contact Disney directly and make sure that they note any special requests on your reservation. That way you are eliminating the middle man (AAA).

Take care!
