What to request if you have woods view booked, so as not to be awakened all night by beeping trucks....?

or, just tell me what is the location of the rooms that you hear the trucks from??

thanks!!

I am staying at WL finally!! in April, just for one night, but we'll be tired from flying in from Vegas, and I don't want to be up all night hearing trucks! Woods view was all that was avaialble.

Woohoo Laura! It's about time you try the place!

I'd request a room overlooking the Otter Pond. That is a nice quiet area. :)

With Woods view you should be fine.
It's the Standard rooms that could overlook the parking lot/service areas.

You might want to request the north wing that way you would get a room facing towards MK or at least the trees/lake.

The Service Area at WL is in the North-West corner of the resort, so the farthest Woods view would be the South-East corner (of course that puts you at some distance from the Lobby).

We stayed in a 5th floor Woods view room (#5012) that was about 2/3rds of the way along the North side of the resort and I don't recall ever hearing any noise from the Service Area.

The advantage of the rooms on the higher floors on the North side of the resort is the chance you might catch a glimpse of the MK, the Monorail, fireworks etc. through the tops of the pine trees. One of my favorite WDW memories is of sitting on the balcony in December, sipping hot chocolate while watching the MVMCP fireworks bursting over the MK and Seven Seas Lagoon.

Just returned from here a few weeks ago and had the most amazing room. I had room #5032 and it was a great room. Although it is right near the elevators, I rarely heard anything. The beds are super comfy and the view is spectacular! You could also see the top floors of the Contemporary, as well as parts of Bay Lake, the monorail and the little pond down below.

Here is the link to the pics that I took of the lodge and my room (wait to you see the view!!!).

Hey!!!!! How was your trip????? Ours was awesome!!!! I'm so glad you are staying at WL!!!!!!!! We loved EVERYTHING about it. The only thing that was just okay-the rooms-a little not "deluxey" enough in decor and a little worn looking (probably due for a refurb soon), but if you can look past this, the resort is AMAZING!!!!!!

We had woods on the north end, 2nd floor above the otter pond. I would request a higher floor on the north end. We could see some fireworks from our balcony (quite a lot, actually). We requested trundown and it was nice.

My inlaws stayed concierge. I wouldn't do it at this resort. They don't have a nice lounge and the balconies are really -blech! The offerings looked very nice, however.

We did the surrey bike ride to FW-what fun. The sleigh ride looked wonderful. With all the decorations, this was the perfect resort for the holidays. We actually liked Whispering Canyon better than AP. That surprised me because I am not a "western-country" person AT ALL. All in all , five nights was too much for me. I'll gladly go back to just doing weekends.

We did make it over to the Boardwalk area this trip (my mom raves about it). We are thinking about the BC for May, but it all depends on $$$$-like always.

Have fun in Vegas!!!!

As stated, rooms 5032 to 5012 will work fine. Go to WL FAQ Part3, pages 1 & 2 will give you a lot of good info on WL.

thanks everyone,
Terk-1, omg those pics are great! I can't believe the view from 5032, wow, that is amazing. You never hear about the few castle view rooms at WL.
thanks for the info.

Laura :)

Make sure that you put any requests into CRO as the WL is NOT accepting faxed requests anymore. I'm not talking about DVC villas either. On another board there is someone that works there and said that the WL won't be accepting them anymore and seems to think the rest of the resorts will follow suit soon. Personally I'm kind of glad they did away with faxing. It always added another level of stress for me as another thing to do! Also no matter what resort they never seemed to know my requests until I asked for them at check in. At that point I have always gotten what I asked for as they were happy to oblige.

OMG, you're kidding! I already have my fax done for my trip next month! I only listed a couple with CRO, but got really specific with the fax. :(

No, I'm not kidding. I believe the new info can also be found on Deb Wills website too. They will only go by the info provided to CRO. I'm sure when you get to the resort you can make a request. We do it all the time and found it to work just fine. I think they are doing this to cut down the thousands of requests coming in all the time.

Hey Laura :) Did my PM to you about WL rub off?? ;) LOL Your PM to me about being surprised I'd try a value rubbed off on me a LOT ... in fact I'm in the process of changing our other nights to WL. (I'm crazy I know, always changing my mind) ;) I think we're still going to be at Pop Century at least one night because availability is slim. I'm really looking forward to trying a new resort this time. We've eaten at the WL many times, and I've always enjoyed it.

I am MAJORLY bummed about the fax thing! I always fax in our requests and we usually get exactly what we asked for. :(

hey Erika,
you may have rubbed off on me a ittle... I feel the exact same way, we have eated at WL many many times, and each time we do, we find ourselves wandering around the lobby, going upstairs to check out the nooks and cranny's....we dont do that at any other resort that we visit...
I have wanted to stay there for a while, but have been hesitasnt because I really am not into Pine trees and fireplaces on my vacation...being surrounded by cold and snow kinda makes you want palm trees on your vacation! but I do love the WL, and am psyched to stay there for the one night, if we love it, we will stay there again, howeever maybe one night will be enough to cure the itch.
:)
now....if we can just hold out on a vacation til April! (I dont think so....dh keeps saying we might have to slip away in February :))
Laura :)

Glad you enjoyed the pics! I took as many as I could. This is a great resort and one that I definitely intend to go back to (with codes or an AP rate). I had to wait a little bit for the room (was ready about 3:30pm), but totally worth it. I, too, sent a fax down requesting that specific room and was more than willing to wait for it. I can understand the doing away of faxes, since this must get inundating at times for the room assigners. I think if you get as specific as possible with CRO, then follow up a few days before directly with the Wilderness Lodge, you should have a half way decent chance of getting what you are looking for. I checked in around 11am, wandered through the resort, then plopped myself down into one of the lodge's comfy leather chairs and just soaked up the atmosphere while waiting for my ps at the Whispering Canyon Cafe. I saw alot of families taking pictures in front of tree to send with their holiday cards. I found it less crowded right at noon and around 3pm, but much busier at dinnertime. The food was tasty and hot and the service was excellent. They (as well as the rest of the restaurants at WDW) where very accomadating regarding substitutions of food. For example, I don't care for baked beans and had corn bread instead. The corn bread is soooooo good!!! After lunch, I headed for the bell desk, then back to luggage storage to grab my bathing suit & book, then headed for the pool. It was nice and relaxing to sit out in the sun and go for a swim. I found the staff here excellent and very friendly. Check-in was less than 5 minutes (compared to the 25 minute wait at CBR -- never again). I was going to ask to see one of the villas to take some pictures, but never got the chance. Next time.... There is a small balcony (I think there were like 4 chairs up there) on the 5th floor that looked straight onto the waterfall, pool and lake. Very quiet up there.

This is a great resort and very reasonable for a deluxe resort.

Don't forget to look for all the hidden Mickey's in the resort. Ask the front desk for the clue sheet and expect to spend a lot of time looking. You can also get the answer sheet from the front desk when you can't find them all! LOL!

I forgot to get the list of the hidden Mickey's while I was there. Next time. Also, I asked about the flag family and was told they were booked until the 8th (since I was heading home at 4am that day that was not an option), I did not get the opportunity to do that. Again, next time.

I am not a snob regarding resorts. I've stayed at 2 of the values (Movies is my favorite), 3 of the moderates (POFQ another fave) & 3 of the deluxe resorts (the BC was a CM rate, the Polynesian was due to being relocated from another resort and the WL was once at a CM rate and the other with an AP rate).

I liked the BC being so close to EPCOT and the Polynesian was nice having the beach and monorail, but hands down the Wilderness Lodge is my favorite. It is so peaceful and relaxing.
